Wednesday, October 21, 2026 - Care Packages for the Troops
We mailed 78 snack and toiletry boxes to our deserving deployed Military today. Decorated beautifully and overflowing with delicious and useful items, we hope the Troops feel the appreciation and love that went into each care package. Our thanks to everyone who volunteered, donated, painted, and made labels, lists, and collected items from donation boxes. To our brave Troops serving around the world, we send our prayers and extra love. We know it's not the same as sitting around the Thanksgiving table with your friends and loved ones, but we hope you know how much your sacrifice is appreciated and how honored we are to support you!
We are "Home of the Free, BECAUSE of the Brave." 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

SLFL Volunteer Kelly Lutman picked up coffee today at Abita Roasting Co in Covington. Thank you to Kyle Ross for enabling us to continue to send coffee to the troops. Our deployed soldiers love this special treat from home

Our friends with the Abundant Characters organization continued their support of our deployed troops by combining a fund raiser with their October meeting at Rocky & Carlos Restaurant. They took up a collection toward our SLFL mailing fund, and several will also make orders from our Amazon Wish List. Thank you ladies! Thank you SLFL Volunteer Donna Maeder for being our liaison with the Abundant Characters. ❤️🤍💙

For You Information...

The first Saturday of the month brought our Thank-a-Soldier booth back to the Camellia City Farmers Market. Each month, Slidell Ladies for Liberty collects patriotic pictures colored by children and note cards of appreciation written by adults at the market. For those wishing to donate to our postage fund for care packages for the deployed Troops, Jahneen McBrayer donates her beautifully hand sewn items they can choose to take home, such as cell phone purses, casserole covers, children’s clothes, and much more.
Thanks to Jahneen and Renee Arsenault for volunteering this morning. The cards and pictures will be included in our care packages this month, and the money donated to our postage fund will help to mail those packages to our deserving Military serving our country around the world. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

SLFL was invited to speak to the American Heritage Girls Troop LA2013 at their National Day of Service held at First Baptist Church on Ponchartrain Drive. Their focus this year is on honoring Veterans and they wanted to include deployed service members. They brought donated snacks, toiletries, and painted boxes for packing. The Heritage Girls also made personalized thank you letters to go inside of the care packages.
Our thanks to Slidell Ladies for Liberty Board member Marion McCoy for coordinating the generous and much appreciated donation from the Heritage Girls.

SLFL Packing for the Troops
Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026
We shipped 74 care packages today to deployed heroes serving around the world. Forty-four of our country's finest will receive boxes of snacks and coffee, and half of those will receive toiletries that are sent every other month. We are truly grateful for all of the donations from the community, enabling us to show our appreciation to these deserving Troops.
Thanks to our amazing volunteers who show up with smiles on their faces willing to help. The recipients of our packages let us know how much it means to them to be remembered each month.
We are "Home of the Free, BECAUSE of the Brave!" 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
