Welcome back!

The Rio Sands Hotel no longer has a meeting room, so we hit the trail to find a new in-person meeting place. Great news! We have secured meeting space at the Mid County Social Center at 829 Bay Avenue in Capitola. We love the new name! By the way, Membership is available for everyone aged 50 and over. Classes and activities include Bridge, Cribbage, Tai Chi, Yoga, and so much more. There is live music every Friday night. There is ample parking and a most beautiful garden.

Reminder: the Northbound Bay Avenue off-ramp is closed. Allow for a little extra time and use your maps to take alternate routes.

We will have representatives present to discuss Measure E (County Sales Tax) and Measure D (Offshore Oil and Mining Protection).

Welcome measure E- County CEO Nicole Coburn

Welcome measure D guest- Dan Haifley.

We have also invited registered Democratic candidates running for:

Pajaro Valley School Board District Area 1 - Andrew Goldenkranz and Meilin Obinata

Capitola City Council candidates, Cami Corvin, Tory Del Favero, Peter Wilk

Pajaro Valleyu School District Area 7 - Mads Realmuto, Dr. Misty Navarro

The goal of our meeting is to connect with the candidates, hear what inspires them to run for office, and learn about the goals they have for their terms. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the candidates and one another, stay informed, and come away more informed and ready to vote!

In preparation for the November election, we are planning a Candidate and County Measures “meet-and-greet” on Tuesday, September 8th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Additional details will be forthcoming. Representatives will be present to discuss Measure E (County Sales Tax) and Measure D (Offshore Oi...

As we are moving toward our summer hiatus from monthly meetings, we invite you all to attend our hybrid meeting on May 12th. Our monthly meetings will resume on September 8, 2026. Our guest is District 2 Supervisor Kim De Serpa. Kim was sworn in in January of 2025. She now has over a year of experience and insight representing the district. The second Trump administration has had far more negative consequences for county governments that have relied on federal funding for everything from emergency response to health services. The proposed county budget has been released. Kim will provide us with an update on her first year in office. There will be time for Q and A

Zoom registration is required.
