MUTUAL AID RESPONSE | NEW CARLISLE

This afternoon, crews from the Saint Joseph County Fire Territory responded to New Carlisle to assist with a mutual aid request for a structure fire.

Mutual aid is an essential part of the fire service. When neighboring departments need additional resources, we're ready to answer the call.

We appreciate the teamwork, coordination, and dedication of all departments and emergency personnel involved in today's response.

Different departments. One mission. Protecting our communities.

Crews with the Saint Joseph County Fire Territory recently took advantage of the nighttime hours to conduct drone operations training with Drone 18!

Operating a drone after dark brings a unique set of challenges, making hands-on training essential. From navigating low-light conditions to utilizing thermal imaging technology, our crews continue sharpening their skills to be prepared when seconds matter.

Whether it's searching for a missing person, assisting with a fire scene, or providing an aerial perspective during an emergency, Drone 18 is another valuable tool in our emergency response capabilities.

TRAINING TODAY. LEADING TOMORROW.

At the Saint Joseph County Fire Territory, we believe that strong leadership, continued education, and professional development are essential to providing the best possible service to our communities.

Recently, members of the fire service from across the country gathered at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, for the Fire and Emergency Services Training Program Management course, held September 27 – October 2, 2026.

This specialized training focuses on developing, managing, and improving fire and emergency services training programs to ensure our firefighters and emergency responders are prepared for the challenges they face every day.

The fire service is constantly evolving, and so must we. Investing in education isn't just about earning certificates or completing courses. It's about bringing back knowledge, strengthening our organization, improving firefighter safety, and ultimately providing better service to the people who depend on us.

Training doesn't stop when you earn the badge. It's a career-long commitment.

Congratulations to our Assistant Fire Chief and everyone who completed this program, and thank you for your continued dedication to advancing the fire service!

🇺🇸 A LITTLE NEIGHBORLY HELP GOES A LONG WAY! 🚒

Yesterday, the crew of Squad 18 had a visit from a neighbor who was having some difficulty replacing the rope on his American flagpole.

After hearing about the situation, the crew came up with a plan, gathered what they needed, and went to work!

With a little teamwork and some problem-solving, they were able to safely replace the rope and get Old Glory flying proudly once again! 🇺🇸

Not every call for help involves flashing lights, sirens, or an emergency. Sometimes, it's simply about being there for the people who live in the neighborhoods we serve.

Because to us, community service goes far beyond emergency response. It's about building relationships, lending a helping hand, and taking pride in the communities we protect.

Great work, Squad 18! 👏🚒

🇺🇸 Congratulations!

The Saint Joseph County Fire Territory would like to recognize one of our firefighters for recently completing the Goshen Police Department Honor Guard Camp.

Honor Guard service requires professionalism, discipline, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the traditions of the fire service and for those who have served before us.

We’re proud to see our members continue to pursue specialized training and bring those skills back to the Fire Territory.

Congratulations on completing the course and representing SJCFT well!

🚒 COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP SPOTLIGHT 🚒

Meet Robert L. “Bob” Price, who is a great Community leader and member of Warren Township. His background includes decades of service in the military, fire service, law enforcement, and community organizations.

🇺🇸 A Lifetime of Service

Bob retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 27 years of service—20 on active duty and seven in Army Reserve units. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and brings experience in project management, budget development, and public speaking.

His professional background also includes serving as Director of Operations and Safety for a local manufacturing firm and 10 years of experience in the construction industry.

🚒 A Connection to the Fire Service

While Bob has never served on the Fire Board, he brings more than 25 years of fire service experience. He began as a volunteer firefighter with Portage Township Fire and later served with the Warren Township Fire Department.

He also spent 10 years with Clay Fire Territory in a part-time/paid-on-call role, first as a firefighter/engineer and later as a fire inspector and investigator. He served as an Emergency Medical Technician and fire service instructor, and he continues to teach CPR as an American Heart Association Basic Life Support instructor.

🤝 Commitment to Community

Bob has served as a volunteer Reserve Police Officer with the St. Joseph County Police Department for more than 15 years, including the last eight as Commander of the County Police Reserves.

He also gives his time as a docent at The History Museum and serves as Vice President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1027. He is a member of American Legion Post 284 and VFW Post 9820 Auxiliary.

🚑 Pride in Our Fire Territory

Bob is proud of the St. Joseph County Fire Territory’s professionalism, modern equipment, and purpose-built fire stations. He especially values its ability to provide emergency medical care at the advanced life support level.

“I am especially proud of the caliber of the highly trained and qualified men and women who serve us.”

He wants residents to know that, while the Territory itself is young, many of its firefighters bring years—and in some cases, decades—of fire service experience, including experience as Advanced EMTs and paramedics.

🏡 Generations of Warren Township Roots

Bob has called Warren Township home for more than 35 years. Two of his three adult children and their families also live in the township, along with numerous extended family members.

His family’s connection reaches back to 1837, when his third-great-grandfather, Joseph Price, obtained a federal land grant. The Price family was one of only 10 families living in Warren Township at that time. His 160-acre farm was bordered by what is now Harrison Road to the south and Pear Road to the west, encompassing the area now known as Field Stone Trails.

🏁 Service at the Speedway

Bob’s longtime interest in motorsports has also provided opportunities to serve. A state-certified Motorsports Emergency Responder, he has worked as a track safety responder for more than 20 years at South Bend Motor Speedway, as well as at Osceola Dragway and Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg.

He has also worked as an EMT at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, MotoGP, and Formula One races.

Please join us in thanking Bob for his years of service and continued dedication to our Community!
