Rebecca has done some great work supporting manufactured home owners organize in town. She’s been supportive of just cause tenant protections too. That being said, pretty disappointing response to the WFP/defund the police question.

BUT based on the last couple years in office Rebecca has been willing to learn, grow, and adopt more radical language. I think the “blue collar caucus” is a good sign (although the fact it’s bipartisan is somewhat concerning). Accepting WFPs endorsement and cosponsoring bills with WFP/CT DSA electeds is a good sign too!

We just need even more CT DSA electeds in the house to keep pushing her in the right direction 😉

These two will do a lot of good for Southington if elected/reelected! Republicans are targeting Rebecca’s race hard so if you’re in her district go and vote!!

Rep. Martinez won a purple seat in a close race in 2024 on a promise to deliver results for her district. In only her first term, she has been able to bring home record amounts of state funding for Southington and Plainville-based districts. These measurable results are exactly what SD-16 needs. So I like what I’ve see of pierce so far but she’s incorrect that we have voter id laws in CT. When her opponent asked if she supports voter id laws, I’m glad she said we can’t put more burdens on voters, but saying we DO already have voter id requirements are false. I know this because I’ve voted by showing poll workers a utility bill - something that is 100% legal. Not sure if she is considering that an “ID”?

Southington’s fair rent commission is chair by a MAGA nut who testified to the state that fair rent commissions were a Marxist conspiracy. I believe this FRC has been illegally shutting down complaints by forcing people to use the town attorney (who is also a landlord defense attorney) to “mediate” between landlords and tenants.

His name is Lou Martocchio, and wouldn’t you know he was a landlord in town too!

Cheryl is genuinely a breath of fresh air here in Southington. Her opponent tries to distract with trans panic, but I appreciate Cheryl not taking the bait. Same with this bs voter ID stuff republicans are pushing. I wish I could vote for her 🥲

She spent her closing statement fearmongering over “men in girls sports” and adding gender neutral language to laws 🙄🙄 this is the modern Republican Party. Sadly we have Democrats like Poulos that side with these freaks!

If you haven’t already, donate and volunteer for her opponent, Cheryl Hilton, so we can at least counterbalance Southington’s representation in the house!!

Why the f**k did Southington democrats vote against this? I thought they were for public safety?

THE GRANT WAS REJECTED. THE PROBLEMS REMAIN.

The Southington Professional Firefighters are deeply disappointed by the Town Council’s decision to reject the $3.03 million FEMA SAFER grant.

We sincerely thank Council members Chaplinsky, Clock, Delsanto, and Sarafino for their unwavering support throughout this process and their votes to accept the award.

Council members Zoni, Guida, and Palmieri previously supported applying for this funding but ultimately voted against accepting it. Morrison and Morelli opposed both measures. While applying for a grant and accepting its financial obligations are different decisions, the public deserves an explanation of what changed.

To the residents of southern Southington: Why does your neighborhood continue to receive a different level of fire protection? Station 3 remains unstaffed approximately 75% of the week, leaving your neighborhoods dependent on responding companies from other parts of town during those hours.

Rejecting this grant does not eliminate decades of staffing deficiencies, response-time disparities, or operational challenges. Those problems existed before the award and remain unresolved today.

Our firefighters will continue serving this community with professionalism and dedication. The public deserves a clear explanation of how these longstanding deficiencies will now be addressed.

The vote is over. The responsibility remains.
