I appreciated hearing Superintendent Dr. Swinyard reflect on Spokane Public Schools in this Better Learning Podcast conversation. The episode captures what our district is about: strong relationships, open communication, and schools where students feel they belong and see a path to success.

That work takes care and persistence from people across the district. I’m grateful for their efforts to listen, learn, and keep improving. I’m proud to serve this community as a school board member.

SCHOOL BOARD SATURDAY: I was honored to serve as our school board’s voting delegate on Saturday at the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) General Assembly.

From 9:00 to 5:00 on Zoom, delegates from across the state considered and voted on WSSDA’s legislative and permanent positions, proposed amendments, and positions to retire. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Spokane Public Schools Board in this important work as we help shape the priorities that guide statewide advocacy for public education.

OPENING NIGHT 🎭: On Thursday, Lewis & Clark’s talented Tiger Drama students brilliantly performed musical numbers from a variety of stage productions.

As a new year gets underway, I’m grateful for all the activities across Spokane Public Schools that help students discover their talents, build friendships, and find belonging, whether through theatre, music, athletics, clubs, leadership, or countless other pursuits.
