In a recent initiative, the Disposition Services Lejeune site provided demilitarized vehicles to units such as the Michigan Army National Guard and Nellis Air Force Base. These vehicles serve as invaluable training tools, allowing units to practice heavy tow recovery and target shooting scenarios. Honoring our heroes on Memorial Day! Navy Rear Admiral Grafton D. Chase, Jr., Commander of DLA Distribution, delivered an inspiring address to the crowd yesterday at the New Cumberland Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park.
During the event, Rear Admiral Chase greeted Army retired Master Sgt. Morganna von Haeger with a fist bump. Additionally, he had a heartfelt moment with WWII Navy veteran John A. Nace, Sr., who served as a Seaman 2nd Class on the USS Henry W. Tucker, a Gearing-class destroyer during WWII. Nace was also the Grand Marshall for New Cumberland’s Memorial Day parade.
As we pay tribute to the sacrifices of our brave service members, let us cherish these meaningful encounters.
