Eagle Forum Education & Legal Eagle Forum Education & Legal is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly in 1981.

We are dedicated to promoting conservative, America First values and advancing the legacy of our founder, Phyllis Schlafly. Phyllis Schlafly was a lawyer, conservative political activist, and author of 27 books. With a long political career, she is most known for defeating the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s and 1980s and helping define and create the modern conservative movement. We seek to educate and engage American citizens on the issues that Phyllis advanced over the 70 years of her political volunteerism - protecting the natural family unit, defending our national sovereignty, fighting against federal overreach into our schools and improving education, promoting capitalism and our free enterprise system, and maintaining a strong military and national defense. Eagle Forum Education & Legal's mission is to promote the legacy of Phyllis Schlafly, and educate and motivate grassroots conservatives to fight for these public policy issues. Phyllis Schlafly's vision was to enable conservatives to participate in the process of politics and government so that America will continue to be a land of individual liberty, respect for family integrity, public and private virtue, and private enterprise.

Phyllis Schlafly supported traditional marriage. She and Fred were married on October 20th, 1949, and enjoyed 44 wonderful years together. This clip is from an interview they did together on Good Morning America in 1978. Family and married life were great joys to Phyllis. She cared for all six of her children at home until they entered school. Throughout her life, Phyllis authored, co-authored, or edited dozens of books. She traveled across the country to speak and debate. She had many accomplishments throughout her life, but as Phyllis Schlafly said, "nothing is as much fun as a happy, long-time marriage and the fun of growing children."

In 1995, illiteracy was a problem, and it continues to be today. The whole-language method of reading has done damage to generations of students. Thankfully, many states now require public schools to use proven, phonics-based reading instruction, but even more states do not require students to learn to sound out words. It will take a long time and a lot of effort from students, parents, teachers, and schools to undo the harm that whole-word/whole-language reading instruction has done to our children. Does your child’s school teach phonics? If not, your child may not really be learning to read.

American heroes, like our founding fathers and Christopher Columbus, have been villainized by left-wing public school curriculum for decades. Phyllis Schlafly knew that this teaches an anti-American worldview to young, impressionable children. Through progressive social platforms of teachers unions and textbooks written by far-left academics, public schools have been a hotbed of anti-American messaging. Phyllis Schlafly advocated for parental rights in education, local control of public schools, and school choice to give parents and communities a way to fight against this indoctrination. Parents and local communities should have the most influence on our schools because, as Phyllis Schlafly said, "control of public school curriculum is a very desirable prize for those who seek to control the future." Her Christian beliefs guided her life and informed her politics. She fought in defense of true conservative beliefs on issues like marriage and the family, immigration, parent’s rights, and so much more. American women are privileged. Phyllis Schlafly fought against feminism to protect those privileges. Feminists have advocated changing laws, textbooks, and social attitudes to force men and women to be the same, but it's a futile effort. The laws of nature cannot be changed. Phyllis Schlafly dedicated decades of her life to speaking truthfully about the differences between men and women, and advocated for the special protections women need to have the right to be women. Feminist ideology portrays women as victims. Phyllis Schlafly believed women should have a positive outlook on their lives and recognize the benefits they have. Phyllis fought against the ERA to protect the immense privileges American women enjoy. The feminist obsession with ‘equality’ harms women in many ways. Phyllis Schlafly saw that harm come about as attitudes and laws changed to allow women in combat and push women into the workforce, threatening their right to stay home and raise their own children.

A Christian leader and American icon. Phyllis Schlafly was a devout Christian who lived out her values in her daily life while influencing politics to reflect the beliefs of the conservative Christian silent majority. Throughout American history, but particularly in modern times, American political figures are often hypocritical, but Phyllis Schlafly was the real deal.
