In honor of International Family Day today, let's celebrate our international Affton family!
The International Club invited all AHS students to participate in the last culture day of the 25-26 school year with special activities during lunch on Wednesday. Mr. Austin and the Chartwells staff provided a Global Eats tasting experience in which students tasted traditional Mexican food- taquitos with homemade salsa! Then, students marked the map to indicate their home countries or their heritage. Finally, students had a blast creating body art to represent various nationalities and heritages with stickers, face paint, and henna.

Today, students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Lynne M. Jackson, the great-great granddaughter of Harriet Scott and Dred Scott, whose landmark 1857 Supreme Court case became a major catalyst for the Civil War and helped shape the course of American history.
As President and Founder of the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation, Ms. Jackson has dedicated her life to preserving, educating, and sharing the powerful legacy of her family’s story with audiences across the nation. Her message challenged our students to reflect on the importance of history, equality, perseverance, and civic responsibility.
