UPDATE from City of Olivette, MO: "ACE/Odesco will be out again today (Tuesday) afternoon to work on the NE section of Cherry Tree Lane and hopefully have everything on the east side open except for one driveway blockage. We will have some repair pieces to install after. If all goes well we may also start working down stream on the west side starting at the man hole located at 749 Cherry Tree Lane."

Check out the results of last week's investigation into Cherry Tree Lane's stormwater problems. No surprises, most of the pipes are inaccessible or collapsed. It sounds like City of Olivette, MO & Ace Pipe Cleaning will keep excavating until they can access & assess every segment of pipe. We're moving in the right direction - toward a solution!

Good news neighbors - step #1 toward a long term solution to Cherry Tree Lane's historic water runoff problem is scheduled to begin next week. On Tues. Jan. 20, ACE PIPE CLEANING will be on Cherry Tree Lane to inspect the storm water pipes; water jet and vacuum the pipes; and use a camera to inspect any obstructions.

The City has contracted with ACE Pipe Cleaning to inspect the storm water pipes that run in the right-of-way along the east and west sides of Cherry Tree Lane. It may be possible to clean and repair the existing pipes in certain areas to relieve storm water pressure that builds at the Engel intersection and subsequently flood properties.

The City is currently scheduled to begin this work on Tuesday January 20th. The first part of the process will be to water jet and vacuum the pipes as far as possible. If an obstruction is encountered a camera will be used to inspect the pipe and locate the area of the obstruction.

Olivette Public Works staff will be working with the contractor during the project and will be responsible for excavating and repairing obstructed sections of pipe. At this point we do not have any idea which properties may have obstructed pipe. It is our hope that any areas that need to be repaired will be in unpaved areas. Those repair areas will will be restored with top soil seed and straw. If there is a failed section of pipe under a driveway a cured in place pipe liner could possibly be used to rehabilitate the pipe.

The Dig Rite utility locating service has been notified and will be marking all utilities along Cherry Tree Lane.

Had a productive meeting this week at the City of Olivette, MO with City employees Bruce, Barb & Carlos. They are talking with individual homeowners on Cherry Tree Lane, Your MSD and private engineering firms to document the current infrastructure (no one is exactly sure what is under the street, under our driveways and in our backyards), pinpoint the exact source(s) of the runoff water problems and then develop a street-wide plan of action (including budget, timeline and funding sources). If the City, MSD or engineer contacts you, please respond. If we all work together, we can put a solution in place that protects ALL of our properties long-term.
