The Peace & Justice Commission was honored to pray outside of the prison gates with many other faithful Catholics during Michael’s last moments on earth. We are a pro-life Church from conception until natural death.
The state of Missouri has executed Michael Tisius.
Over the years, Michael developed a deep love for Jesus and a profound faith, which he expressed through his artwork. This is one of his drawings, and a quote.
“My faith has taught me that through Jesus I am forgiven and loved. As my scheduled date becomes closer, I try to lean heavily on that and keep in mind that He has my best interest at heart. At the end of the day all I have is my faith and that is the only thing I can take with me.” -Michael Tisius

The death penalty is evil. And it is a contradiction of the Gospel. It denies the power of Christ to redeem, restore and transform every human being.
May every one of us do all that we can to abolish the death penalty, once and for all.
