Construction of Fire Station 5 continues to move toward completion. Installation of the apparatus bay is complete, and spray foam insulation is scheduled to be installed during the first week of June. Electrical work in the apparatus bay is approximately 50% complete, and garage door installation is underway.
Inside the station, the bathroom upfit is complete, and all remaining house upfits have been finished with the exception of the kitchen countertops. Painting is expected to wrap up this week, and bedroom furniture has been assembled and placed in the rooms. Cleaning of the facility has also begun, and the Station Alert system is currently being installed.
Outside the building, gutters have been connected and preparations are underway for the installation of river rock once conditions allow. The brush pile has been removed by the Sanitation Division. Appliances are expected to be delivered within the next two weeks as the project moves closer to completion.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for Fire Station 5 has been scheduled for June 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend and tour the new facility.

The Circuit 63 Undergrounding Project is substantially complete. All underground electrical work, customer conversions, and infrastructure removal have been completed. The only remaining work is the installation of three streetlights. Due to an incorrect shipment from the manufacturer, the project team is awaiting delivery of the correct fixtures. Additional information on the delivery timeline is expected within the next few weeks, as these items are considered long-lead materials.
With the underground conversion complete, Statesville Public Power crews have removed the former electrical infrastructure throughout the neighborhood, leaving only communication lines on the existing poles. The project has significantly reduced the amount of overhead electrical infrastructure in the area while improving the reliability and appearance of the electric system. The new streetlights have also been installed throughout most of the project area, with the final three fixtures to be added once the correct shipment arrives.

Work continues to progress on both the Statesville Police Department Expansion and the adjacent Parking Garage. A construction fence screen has been installed around the site to improve appearance and enhance safety.
At the Parking Garage, parking space striping has been completed on all levels except the lower level. The second elevator is expected to be delivered this week, and the overall garage project remains on track for completion in July.
At the Police Department Expansion, exterior walls have been installed and sheathed, while interior wall framing is underway. HVAC installation continues, with approximately 60% to 65% of the ductwork now in place. Electrical crews are continuing preparation for rough-in work throughout the building.
Construction of the new Police Department Call Center is nearing completion. HVAC technicians are onsite installing heating and air units and completing rough-in work. Overhead electrical rough-in is nearly complete, and the call center is expected to be finished within the next one to two weeks.
