It is heartwarming to know that the community has cared about Fort Dobbs for so long!
Wish we could find the script and music for this play.

Come out this Saturday for a living history event!
We will have a membership table set up.

Our first living history event of the year is this Saturday (March 1) as we commemorate the 265th anniversary of "The Defense of Fort Dobbs"!

Here are some things to know:
1. Parking will be in our normal lot, but there will be signs directing you to overflow space in a field across the street if the main lot is full.*
*Please use caution if crossing the road.

2. The fort will be open to walk through from 10:00-4:00. There are no scheduled tours, but please ask questions of our costumed volunteers: what are they are doing/ who do they represent, etc.

3. While there is no battle reenactment, we will still make lots of noise! We will fire muskets at 10:30 and 1:30 and will fire the swivel cannon at 12:00 and 3:00.

4. There is no admission for this event, but we suggest a donation of $2 per person. Donations can be made in our visitor center.

5. The Friends of Fort Dobbs will have a membership table just outside the visitor center where you can join and help the non-profit continue in their mission of supporting Fort Dobbs!

See you then!

WORK ZONE AHEAD

We are excited to announce that construction on our new visitor center should be underway before the end of the month! (We'll share the specific day work begins shortly). This project will last the remainder of the year and will encompass the entire area where our current parking lot and playground are located, all of which will be off-limits for safety reasons.

During construction, there are several changes to our operations we want to make you aware of:
1. We have established a temporary gravel parking lot on the western side of the site. This lot will open the day construction work begins and can hold up to 20 vehicles. Please use caution when entering and exiting this area.

2.There is no paved sidewalk from the temporary lot to the visitor center. A path following the most firm ground surface available will be marked.

3. As our main restrooms will be incorporated into the new visitor center, during construction we will utilize the old restrooms located in the picnic shelter. Accessible portable toilets will also be placed near the temporary parking lot.

4. There may be occasional periods when the site needs to close for a few days. We will notify you well in advance.

While there will be some short-term inconveniences, we look forward to welcoming you into our new visitor center when it's all finished!
