It's a great day in Sterling Heights!

Construction is officially underway on Red Run Park after the city broke ground on the project May 5, marking the start of a long-awaited flagship park and green space in the southern portion of Sterling Heights.

Funded through the voter-approved Pathway to Play and Preservation millage, the project will bring new recreation and gathering opportunities to an area identified as needing additional neighborhood park access.

Once complete, Red Run Park will feature lighted pickleball and basketball courts, a dog park, nonmotorized trails, a rentable pavilion, gathering spaces and a 24-hour public library kiosk. Designed with accessibility and community connection in mind, the park is expected to open in late fall 2026, weather permitting.
