Late Post 🗓️📍🎉💚💪

As comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some meaningful milestones from the month of May.

These photos highlight two special moments. The first was attending the Community Health Leadership Council meeting with United Way of San Joaquin County at The NEST. Gathering alongside community health leaders was a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to improving mental health and well-being throughout our community.

The second was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for San Joaquin County’s new in-house Wellness Room, located in the County Administration Building. This dedicated space reflects our commitment to supporting the well-being of our own employees, ensuring that those who serve our community also have access to resources that support their health and wellness.

I am grateful to have been part of these important moments and to share them with all of you. They serve as a reminder that investing in mental health strengthens individuals, families, workplaces, and communities.

Another reason why I proudly say: Greatness Grows Here. 🌱

Here’s to June and the many opportunities ahead to continue making a positive impact and creating new memories together.

On Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 I had the honor of attending and speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Housing Authority of San Joaquin County ribbon cutting on the new housing project set to break ground this summer. The Edison House, a new permanent supportive housing community dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness, including veterans and those facing mental health and substance use challenges.

This transformative investment in housing affordability represents a $16 million collaborative effort made possible through partnerships with the City of Stockton, the California Department of Housing and Community Development through the Homekey+ Program, federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and support services provided by San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services.

Together, these partnerships are helping create 34 affordable homes with on-site supportive services designed to promote stability, wellness, recovery, and hope for residents. This project is a meaningful step forward in addressing homelessness and strengthening support systems for some of our community’s most vulnerable individuals.

Grateful to stand alongside so many dedicated partners committed to building a healthier and stronger future for our community.

Get involved! There’s nothing like a community-based meeting that brings together changemakers from our neighborhoods, community representatives, district leaders, and department heads alike.

Over the past month, my office has had the opportunity to attend several community forums and meetings hosted by the Public Works Department and their dedicated team. These meetings help ensure that residents in my district receive the most up-to-date information and resources available to support our community.

I’m grateful to be part of this process and to see valuable information being shared directly with our residents by hardworking professionals who truly care. Thank you to Director Zari and his team for always including my office in these important conversations and for their continued commitment to our community.

This is exactly why we say: Greatness grows here.

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, their courage, their commitment, and the immeasurable loss felt by those who loved them. When we reflect on the significance of this day, it is imperative that we learn who the fallen were, not just by name but by character and their stories.

Among those we remember are the servicewomen who made the ultimate sacrifice in the conflicts that followed September 11th. Their stories are less often shared, however, deserve to be told and kept alive.

Today we encourage you to learn their names, their stories, and their final resting places.

Read them. Share Them. And if you are able, visit them and reflect on the true cost of freedom.

Read their stories at https://foundationforwomenwarriors.org/honor-her-service-servicewomen-who-made-the-ultimate-sacrifice-since-9-11/.
