Today is DAF Day!

If you have a Donor Advised Fund, today is a great day to recommend a grant to S/PA.

Your DAF gift helps S/PA provide hardworking students with scholarships, four years of mentorship, and opportunities that open doors.

To recommend a grant, log in to your DAF provider's portal and search for Student/Partner Alliance, or contact your fund advisor.

DAF Day is one week away!

On October 8, donors across the country will be encouraged to recommend grants from their Donor Advised Funds to the nonprofits and causes they care about.

The school year is underway, but 2 S/PA students at St. Benedict’s Prep Girls Division are still waiting for a Mentor.

A Mentor makes a commitment to be there for a student through high school — listening, sharing experience, offering encouragement, and helping her navigate the journey ahead.

You don’t need to provide financial support or have all the answers. S/PA provides training, resources, and ongoing support. What matters most is your willingness to show up and build a meaningful relationship with a student.

And getting started is easy. If you’re interested in becoming a Mentor, comment “MENTOR,” send us a message or reach out to learn more about the application process. Link is in the bio and stories!

Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15, and it holds real meaning for the communities we serve. So many of our students, Mentors, and families in Newark, Jersey City, and Roselle carry Hispanic and Latino heritage as part of their everyday story, from the language spoken at home to the traditions passed down at the table. This month is a chance to honor that heritage and to celebrate the culture, resilience, and pride that shape our S/PA community.

Be sure to connect with community activities happening throughout the month across Newark, Jersey City, and Roselle. Whether it's a family day in the park, a library celebration, or an evening of live music and dance, be sure to enjoy the festivities throughout the month!

Over the past week, we've shared the S/PA story, introduced our students and five partner schools, and shown you the many people who make a four-year S/PA journey possible. Now, we want to ask one simple question:

Could you be a Mentor?

Being a Mentor means committing to one student for four years. It means showing up, listening, encouraging, sharing your experience, and helping a young person navigate high school and think about what comes next.

You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to be there.

And if becoming a Mentor isn't the right fit, there are other ways to support S/PA, including becoming a Partner, becoming a Sponsor, or making a general donation.

But if you've been following along and wondering where you fit in, maybe your place is beside a S/PA student!

What Does It Mean to Be a S/PA Sponsor?

A Sponsor helps make a student’s four-year educational journey possible by providing $3,500 per year toward their scholarship.

Unlike a Partner, a Sponsor does not take on a mentoring commitment, but Sponsors are welcome to attend S/PA events and meet the student they are supporting.

There are many ways to invest in a S/PA student’s future. And for those who want to build a deeper, personal connection, becoming a Mentor offers the opportunity to be there for a student through four important years of learning and growing.

What Does It Mean to Be a Partner?

A Partner makes a four-year commitment to a S/PA student’s education and journey.
Partners provide $3,500 per year toward tuition and serve as the student’s Mentor throughout high school. That means investing in both their education and their growth, while building a relationship that can last well beyond the classroom.

It’s a meaningful way to show up for a young person, year after year.

And you don't have to become a Partner to make a difference.

One Student. Four Years. A Future of Possibilities.

At S/PA, we believe that a student’s opportunity for a quality education shouldn't be limited to a single year.

Our scholarship provides tuition assistance throughout a student’s four years of high school, giving them the opportunity to attend a college-preparatory private school and focus on learning, growing, and preparing for what comes next.

But S/PA is about more than tuition.

Alongside their scholarship, students have the support of a Mentor and an entire community invested in their success.

Four years of education. Four years of mentorship. Four years of opportunity.

What Does It Mean to Be a Mentor?

Being a S/PA Mentor means showing up for one student, year after year.

It means being there to listen, encourage, offer advice, celebrate successes, and help navigate the challenges that come with high school and preparing for the future.

For a Mentee, having a steady adult in their corner can make a lasting difference.

For a Mentor, it is the opportunity to watch a young person grow, gain confidence, discover their strengths, and take steps toward their future.

It’s a four-year relationship built on trust, encouragement, and the belief that every student has the potential to succeed.
