Today’s Duck Library theme is witches, cats, bats, frogs, suspicious bubbling cauldrons, and anything else that looked like it might know a spell or two.

Is everyone here technically a witch?
No.

Do they have witch-adjacent vibes?
Absolutely.

🐸 Frogs? Potion ingredients.
🐈‍⬛ Cats? Familiar.
🦇 Bats? Obviously.
📖 Book duck? Spellbook.
🦝 Raccoon? We don't know. He knows what he did.

🚗🦆 FIELD TRIP!

The ducks got out of the library today and went to visit their wheeled cousins at the GotWheels? Little Car Library!

They browsed the collection.
They admired the infrastructure.
They discussed circulation policies.

And then they remembered none of them have driver’s licenses. 😂

10/10 field trip. Would quackommend.

Today’s Duck Library theme is for those of us who like our Halloween with significantly more “awwww” and significantly less “AHHHH.”

We’ve got ghosts who are entirely too happy about being dead, sparkles ✨, pumpkins 🎃, candy corn, cats, pastels, and assorted creatures with approximately zero scare factor.

They came to haunt you.
Fortunately, they are adorable. 💀💕

This one hurts.

Tonight we found ducks from the library scattered across the sidewalk, grass, and yard.

The Duck Library is free to enjoy, but the ducks inside it aren't free. I buy them. Neighbors buy them. Families donate them. Kids have brought ducks from their own collections because they wanted another kid to find something that made them happy.

That's what makes this little box work: people choosing to add a little joy to their community.

You don't have to understand why someone has a ridiculous little library full of rubber ducks in their front yard. But please respect the time, money, and kindness that goes into keeping it here.

And please—if you don't want a duck, just leave it there for someone who does. 💛

🎭🎃 DUCK LIBRARY COSTUME PARTY!

The invitations went out.
Some ducks misunderstood the assignment.

Some came as superheroes.
Some came as royalty.
Some came dressed for work.
Some appear to have just put on a hat and called it a costume.

And then there's Jack Skellington.

We respect that level of effort. 😂

No costume contest. No judging. Mainly because we can't tell what half of them are supposed to be.

The Duck Library is crawling with monsters today.

Aliens. 👽
Mummies.
Frankenstein.
Creatures with one eye.
Creatures with too many eyes.
Whatever the hell some of these things are. 😂

The qualifications for today's flock were simple:

1. Be a monster.
2. Look vaguely monstrous.
3. Have an energy we found concerning.

Apparently we had more applicants than expected.

🦆🏕️ ADVENTURE DUCK UPDATE

Three little ducks went camping away,
Leaving the Duck Library for a few days.

They stopped for some treats and made a new friend,
Then headed up north where the highways end.

They watched the sun sink over the lake,
Sat by the fire as night turned late.

One brought a book, one brought a game,
And Duck E. brought snacks—because obviously, same. 😂

Now tucked by the fire with nothing to do,
They're living their best little wilderness crew.

So while our home flock is on evening-time hours,
These three are out claiming the wilderness as ours.

Our usual morning duck crew is off on an adventure this week! ⛺

For Wildcat safety, the library will stay empty during school hours and ducks will arrive after work in the evenings (typically around 4:30pm).

Yesterday, Kiddo kicked off spooky season with BLACK.
Today, we're moving on to ORANGE.

Pumpkins? Obviously. 🎃
Devils? Sure.
Bats? Yep.
Basketball? …listen, he’s orange and he showed up for work. 🏀😂

If you're orange, orange-ish, pumpkin-adjacent, or simply willing to commit to the theme, you're in.

Welcome to Day 2 of spooky season, where apparently we're just sorting the Duck Library by Halloween colors now. 😂
