Let's be weather-ready and prepared. Here is a phenomenon that happens before hurricanes come through. This photo was taken last night in our district.

A red sunset before a hurricane is caused by increased atmospheric particles and moisture scattering sunlight, which filters out blue light and leaves a deep red glow. It’s a beautiful but ominous sign that the storm’s atmosphere is altering the way light travels through the sky.

****Important note:
While dramatic skies can be a natural warning, they are not a substitute for official forecasts. Meteorologists stress that these signs should complement, not replace, official alerts and evacuation orders
