🔥 FIRE MARSHAL BILL HERE, North Topsail Beach! 🔥

This is Fire Prevention Week, and "Safe Charging Is a Superpower!" Here's what I learned the hard way, so you don't have to:

⚡ Use the charger that came with your device. A glowing four-dollar cord is a clue.
⚡ No charging on beds, couches, or under pillows. Batteries need room to breathe, just like me after a demonstration.
⚡ Charge e-bikes, scooters, and golf carts while you're awake, not overnight.
⚡ Hot, swollen, or smelly battery? Stop using it, get away, and call 911.

Be a charging superhero, North Topsail Beach! 🦸

Today 10/2/2026 the members of C shift hosted and taught a water rescue training with Turkey Creek Fire Department Onslow County, responders. Training included Intracoastal Waterway familiarization and 1- and 2-rescuer jet ski rescues. These trainings with our neighboring department are crucial to continue to improve our skills in the water.

Today, the members of the North Topsail Beach Fire Department had the honor of hosting our 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the St. Regis Resort. What made today truly special was seeing firefighters, first responders, members of our community, and friends come together to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

A very special THANK YOU to our partners and supporters who helped make today’s memorial climb possible:

🚒 Jacksonville Fire Department
🚒 Turkey Creek Fire Department
🏨 St. Regis Resort for graciously hosting us and welcoming everyone onto your property
☕ Coffee Joy for keeping our participants fueled and caffeinated
🍧 Tiki Snow Shaved Ice for helping us cool down after the climb
❤️ And to the many other individuals, businesses, departments, volunteers, and supporters who donated their time, resources, and effort to make today possible.

Every step climbed today represented a life lost. Every flight reminded us of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of the 343 firefighters and countless other first responders who answered the call that day.

We remember the victims.
We honor the heroes.
We stand with the families and survivors.
And we will NEVER FORGET.

From all of us at the North Topsail Beach Fire Department, thank you to everyone who showed up, climbed, supported, volunteered, and helped us keep their memory alive.

September 11, 2001.
Always remembered. Never forgotten. 🇺🇸

On Tuesday, September 2, 2026, North Topsail Beach C Shift responded to a water rescue involving a young boy who was drowning. Thanks to the quick actions of the young boy’s parents and the teamwork of the five firefighters on scene, we rescued him safely.
Then the next day, Wednesday, September 3, 2026, we had a surprise visitor and the incredible honor of welcoming that same young boy and his family to the fire station. He came by for one very special reason—to say thank you to the five firefighters who were there when he needed them most.
Seeing his smiling face and hearing his heartfelt words of gratitude was a moment our crew will never forget.
We are incredibly proud of the teamwork, courage, and dedication displayed by all five members of C shift. More importantly, we are grateful to see this young boy safe, healthy, and smiling.
This is why we do what we do.
From all of us at the fire department, thank you for reminding our firefighters just how much their work matters.

Join us as we remember on the 25th anniversary.

📚🌩️ BACK-TO-SCHOOL WEATHER REPORT: THE FIRST POP QUIZ OF THE YEAR! 🌩️📚

Welcome back to school, North Topsail Beach! The kids may have survived the first day, but Mother Nature apparently has a pop quiz of her own. 🌦️

⛈️ This afternoon: Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms could roll through, with damaging wind gusts being the main concern. Storms are expected to wind down early this evening, which is great news for everyone who already has homework they’re pretending doesn’t exist.

🎒 Today’s assignment:
✅ Stay weather aware
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings
✅ Know where you’ll go if severe weather approaches
✅ Don’t wait until the thunder starts doing its best drum solo to make a plan

Parents, teachers, students, and beachgoers: keep an eye on the sky and your phone today. We’d rather see you get a weather alert you don’t need than miss the one you do.

North Topsail Beach Fire Department
Because sometimes Mother Nature gives detention. 🌩️🚒

🦸‍♀️ SuperGirl SUPER-FORECAST:
North Topsail Beach Fire Department Edition 🦸‍♀️

Citizens of Topsail Island, this is your friendly neighborhood weather hero swooping in with an update, and listen up — even I don't mess around with what's coming today.

It's another scorcher — hot, humid, and sticky enough that my cape is basically wilting. But here's the real headline: by this afternoon, the sky is picking a fight. We've got a serious threat for thunderstorms packing damaging winds of 60 MPH or more — strong enough to test even my landing form. Large hail is on the table, a tornado can't be ruled out, and yes, even waterspouts might be twirling offshore. Basically, Mother Nature is auditioning for every disaster movie at once.

But the real supervillain today? Rain. All this humidity means the atmosphere is loaded like a sq**rt gun, and storms could train — parking themselves over the same spots for hours — dumping 2 to 5+ inches of rain in a hurry. That's not "grab an umbrella" rain; that's "where did the road go" rain.

So here's my superhero code for tonight, and it's non-negotiable:

🚫 NEVER cross a flooded road. Not in your car, not on foot. Turn Around, Don't Drown — I can't fly in fast enough to save you from your own bumper.

📡 Have MULTIPLE ways to get warnings — phone alerts, NOAA weather radio, local news — because even Super-hearing has its limits, and you deserve a backup.

Stay sharp, stay dry, and let the Fire Department (and me) handle the heroics tonight. You just handle not driving into flood water. Deal?

— Your Friendly Neighborhood Weather Hero 💨⚡🌊
