Thrilled that my team was able to help celebrate the grand opening of Belvedere Terrace Apartments last week.

These 72 new affordable homes for adults 55+ are now open in Tucson, including units reserved for seniors exiting homelessness. With rents starting at $900 a month and utilities included (yay for solar!), these apartments will remain affordable for the next 30 years.

This project is a powerful example of what community partnerships can accomplish to create safe, beautiful, and stable housing for Pima County residents. Congratulations to everyone who helped make Belvedere Terrace a reality!

Congratulations graduates! And wishing a happy summer to all Pima County students, teachers, and families. Great news: Pima County pools open tomorrow May 23 and fees are suspended!

I was pleased to join Governor Katie Hobbs, Mayor Regina Romero and Supervisor Rex Scott at yesterday’s Future of USMCA event. The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement has helped strengthen Arizona’s economy by expanding cross-border trade, creating well-paid jobs, and supporting industries that sustain working families across our region - on both sides of the border. As we continue building these partnerships, we must ensure trade policies uplift workers, protect labor standards, and create sustainable growth that brings prosperity to everyone.

Karla Toledo’s detention by the Trump administration is cruel and entirely unjust.

DACA recipients are essential members of our community and belong here. The Trump administration’s ruthless immigration policies are tearing apart families and devastating lives across Tucson, Pima County, and the entire country.

This must stop.

I join others in demanding Karla’s immediate release, and the release of so many of our friends and neighbors who have been illegally detained.

And remember: if you see ICE activity or need help, contact Tucson Community Rapid Response at +1.520.221.4077.

It was an honor to attend the 39th annual Salute to Centenarians event, celebrating the lives and sharing in the stories of so many extraordinary individuals.

Join me in voting yes on Prop 418 and 419, to ensure Pima County has a coordinated transportation infrastructure program. It is crucial to southern Arizona’s economy, public health and safety.

Proud to stand with our refugee communities, whom Congress and the President have completely let down, to make sure they can continue to thrive right here in Pima County.

Local opinion: Arizona must join West Coast Health Alliance 10/13/2025

By joining the West Coast Health Alliance, Governor Katie Hobbs can send a clear message: Arizona stands with science, with our doctors and nurses, and with every family that wants to keep their loved ones safe.
