Mary's Path GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
Residents First – The moms and babies we serve come first and all decisions are guided by what serves them best.

VISION:
Teen moms in foster care become loving, caring mothers and raise happy, healthy children. OUR MISSION:
Believing in the value of every life, Mary’s Path empowers vulnerable teen mothers in foster care and their babies to create lives dignity, hope and self-sufficiency. Why is Mary’s Path Important? We are 1 of only 4 residences in all of California that serve this vulnerable population. The overarching theme of our residents remains consistent – Family. The connection to the baby equates to a family and unconditional love. Many of our residents have run away from both foster homes and family homes. A very common theme is that our residents have run away for a significant amount of time and turn themselves into the authorities to receive care for themselves and their unborn child. The baby becomes the stabilizing factor.

Mary’s Path is so excited to host a resident reunion later this fall. Your donation will help us provide fun activities, prizes and food for all the former residents who come back to visit. But these reunions are about more than just catching up. They show our current residents that they and their babies have bright futures ahead of them. We hope you’ll consider making a donation today by clicking this link to help support this wonderful tradition. https://maryspath.networkforgood.com/projects/68939-donate-today

Today is World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme is “lived experiences heard: real voices, real change." At Mary’s Path we strive to center the lived experiences of our teen moms. Acknowledging those experiences helps our moms move forward and create a stable foundation for their babies.

October in Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is something too many of our teen moms have been exposed to. But while at Mary's Path, our moms work hard to heal and learn what healthy family and romantic relationships look like. Most importantly they learn the abuse was not their fault. We're so proud of all the effort they put in. We stand with our teen moms and anyone who has survived domestic abuse.

Research shows that trusted continuity produces measurable, positive outcomes for pregnant and parenting foster youth. We see the results every day among our former residents who took part in Mary’s Path aftercare program. Our moms were stable, less likely to have their children removed and the vast majority chose to continue on with their behavioral health plans. Hear more from our President & CEO Jill Dominguez at the annual Preventing & Addressing Child Trafficking Statewide Convening this week in Sacramento.

About 1,000 California foster youth are pregnant or parenting at any given time—many with complex needs. Yet the state provides minimal training for foster families and placement options support outside of residential care for this vulnerable population, which can lead to devastating outcomes. Hear more from our President & CEO Jill Dominguez at the annual Preventing & Addressing Child Trafficking Statewide Convening this week in Sacramento.

California knows how many children and youth are in foster care, but not how many youth are pregnant or parenting—or what services they receive. We look forward to the day our state makes it a priority to start keeping track of this vulnerable population. Hear more from our President & CEO Jill Dominguez at the annual Preventing & Addressing Child Trafficking Statewide Convening next week in Sacramento.

Have you made a contribution to our Igniting Potential Giving Day yet? There’s still time! Your contribution will go a long way toward helping our teen moms and babies. Your donations will go toward baby supplies and living essentials for our teen moms who often show up with nothing. They’ll support our mental health services, including equine therapy, and help us maintain 24/7 support for our teen moms and babies. It’s not too late for you to help change two lives at a time!
