As the weather warms up and sun starts consistently shining, Indiana Borough sees more bicycles on the roads and sidewalks.

With the many different types of bicycles and e-bikes now in use, it’s important for riders and parents to understand the rules and regulations, including age requirements, and roadway versus sidewalk use.

Please ride safely, follow traffic laws, and stay alert while sharing the road with motorists and pedestrians.

Today, we honor the lives given by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces throughout our country’s history. These men and women sacrificed their lives for the freedom and safety we enjoy each day. We honor their sacrifice and remember the lives they lived, with purpose and valor.

Please consider joining us on Philadelphia St. as we are lining the streets to welcome home PFC. John A. Walko. PFC. Walko was killed in action during World War II and was officially accounted for on July 16, 2025.

The procession is coming into town from the Pittsburgh Airport. They are expected to pass through Philadelphia St. between 8:30 and 9:00.

This week is National Police Week, 2026, an annual observance of the service and sacrifice of the members of our law enforcement community. Today, May 15th, is the National Peace Officers Memorial Day, a day of remembrance for those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their community and for our safety.

When this week is over, our law enforcement officers will continue to diligently serve our community with honor. They will continue each and everyday to stand between us and evil. They will continue their work across our nation so that we may be safe. We can make sure our appreciation of their work continues past this week as well.

After more than 80 years, John A. Walko is finally coming home.

PFC Walko, of Commodore, Pennsylvania, was killed during World War II and was officially accounted for on July 16, 2025.

Our community now has the solemn honor of welcoming this American hero home with the dignity and respect he deserves.
