Every time someone places an item into a collection box, they’re placing a set of expectations in with it. 📦

People are trusting that sharps, vapes, and other difficult materials will be collected safely, serviced reliably, tracked appropriately, and managed responsibly through end-of-life.

Since Illinois EPA announced its Residential Sharps Collection Program in 2023, ARXG has been helping communities develop systems that support safe and compliant sharps collection. Now, we’re applying the same connected approach to vapes and looking ahead to the difficult waste streams that haven’t yet entered the conversation. ♻️

We’re excited to build on this momentum at the Illinois Counties Solid Waste Management Association Annual Conference, where our team looks forward to collaborating with industry partners to prepare for the next set of expectations.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟯𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗗𝗮𝘆. Across the nation, more than 4,400 collection sites are giving people a safe and convenient way to dispose of unneeded or expired medications.

Safe take-back protects households and communities by helping prevent diversion and accidental poisoning. It also creates a more responsible pathway for medications that are no longer needed.

Last year, ARXG helped bring that impact home and extend it beyond a single day by partnering with the Sauk Rapids Police Department to establish permanent drop boxes for medications and sharps. 🤝
