~ CASA Volunteer:

A Court Appointed

15/04/2026

We’re excited to welcome our Spring 2026 CASA Volunteer Training Class! 🌸

This week, a new group of dedicated community members began their journey to becoming Court Appointed Special Advocates. Over the next two weeks, they’ll take part in in-depth training to prepare for this important role as advocates for some of our community’s most vulnerable children.

We were also honored to welcome Judge Urioste, Sonoma County's recently appointed Dependency Court Judge, who joined us for the very first time to speak with our trainees! This marks his first CASA training, making the moment especially meaningful. Judge Urioste shared insights into the vital role CASAs play in the courtroom and in the lives of the children they serve.

We look forward to the journey ahead and are grateful for the compassion and commitment of this incredible group, especially during Child Abuse Prevention Month. 💙

Grateful to and for hosting such an inspiring annual volunteer fair! 💙

Our board member and CASA volunteer duo had an amazing time connecting with Sonoma County residents, sharing meaningful volunteer opportunities, and spreading awareness about the vital role CASA advocates play in the lives of local youth.

Thank you for bringing the community together in such a powerful way. We’re honored to be part of it!

🚨 All Hands on Deck for Youth in Foster Care🚨

We’re fighting to restore $20 million in state funding for California CASA, and we need your voice before March 6.

Through Court Appointed Special Advocates, trained volunteers stand beside children in foster care and are often the one consistent adult focused entirely on their best interests. CASA Volunteers advocate in court, at school, and in the community to help youth find stability, permanency, and hope.

But without this funding, fewer children will have a CASA by their side.
💥 Here’s how you can act today in 3 simple steps:

1. Call your State Assemblymember and ask them to sign onto the California CASA budget request letter.

2. Send a follow-up email.

3. Check back in if you don’t hear back before March 6th.

Legislators need to hear directly from advocates in their districts. Your outreach truly matters. Let’s show up strong and make sure every child has someone fighting for them.

Thank you to the incredible organizers of Los Cien’s "Understanding the History & Use of the Term “Latinx” event for creating such a thoughtful and meaningful space for dialogue last week! 💛

We’re grateful that CASA of Sonoma County was invited to connect with attendees, learn from speakers, and engage in powerful conversations with community leaders and supporters at our info booth.

As one of our amazing volunteers who staffed the booth shared:
“I had such a good time talking with people and loved having the chance to spend some time with another CASA Volunteer. The talk was incredible and I learned so much.”

Thank you for bringing people together to listen, learn, and grow. We’re honored to be part of these conversations. ✨🦋

A huge thank you to the Secret Santa team, CVNL, and all the amazing elves throughout our community ☃️ ✨
~~~
Through CVNL’s Secret Santa program and CASA’s Frosty’s Village, our advocates had the opportunity to select thoughtful gifts for their kiddos. Frosty’s Village was a wonderful success, helping ensure that children in our foster care program experienced the joy and magic of the holidays.
~~~
We are so grateful to everyone who donated, organized, and spread cheer. Our community's generosity truly made the season brighter for so many children! ❤️

💙Every year, 182 CASA Volunteers provide critical advocacy for children in foster care; supporting them in the courtroom, school, and community throughout Sonoma County.
~~~
Across California and the nation, CASA programs share one mission: ensuring every child in foster care has a trained, consistent advocate by their side.
Our program is proud to be one of more than 40 CASA programs across California, united by a shared commitment to children in foster care.
Through California CASA, our program benefits from:
• Statewide advocacy for child welfare reform
• Consistent volunteer training standards
• Shared best practices and data-driven strategies
• A unified voice for children at the state level
~~~
This collaboration ensures children in Sonoma County receive advocacy rooted in the strongest research, policies, and practices available.
