Happy National Run for Office Day! We're honored to join Run for Something Civics in celebrating the everyday leaders who step up to run for local office.
At a time when national politics consume so much of Americans' time and attention, it's easy to forget that the elected leaders who have the greatest impact on our lives often aren't in Congress or the White House – they're right here in our communities.
Even if the filing window has already passed where you live, today is a great moment to think about the future. Maybe the next great public servant in your community is someone you know, and they just need a push from someone like you. Or maybe the next great public servant IS you.

A few months ago we completed the data collection for all publicly elected school board seats in the United States. School districts being defunded to the point of four day school weeks is one of the reasons why we wanted to do the work. Good candidates needed.

"Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail. If you can’t be a sun, be a star. For it isn’t by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We hope you find these words by Dr. King as inspiring as we do!

When Iceland elected a female president in 1980, it set off a domino effect that turned it into one of the most egalitarian countries. What can the US learn?

We love reading articles about new faces in politics. Check out this piece on Jabari Bisport's run for NYC City Council.
Could a Democratic Socialist Actually Win a Spot on City Council?
Probably not, but Jabari Bisport’s campaign is still a sign of the post-Bernie new left revival.
