CLEAT Deputy Executive Director Jennifer Szimanski testified today at the House Committee on Homeland Security, Public Safety, and Veterans’ Affairs interim hearing. Szimanski spoke on two panels, one of which focused on the implementation of the TCOLE sunset bill, specifically law enforcement agency standards. The second panel addressed issues surrounding law enforcement recruiting and retention.

As departments continue to face staffing shortages and increasing demands, CLEAT remains committed to ensuring the voices of Texas law enforcement officers are heard where it matters most. Supporting the profession starts with recognizing the realities officers face every day and fighting for policies that strengthen recruitment, retention, protections, and long-term support for those who serve our communities across the state.

From Texas to DC and back home again ✈️

During this year’s National Police Week visit, CLEAT Region 1 Director Jesse Minton crossed paths with fellow CLEAT Region Director Juan Hernandez while joining law enforcement from across the country in the nation’s capital. 🇺🇸

The two were among the many Texans representing the Lone Star State and CLEAT throughout the week’s events honoring fallen officers and supporting those who continue to serve.
