Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating El Día de Mu***os (Day of the Dead) by creating mini ofrendas to honor loved ones who have passed, and to REFORMA for sponsoring the event! The ofrendas created during the event are now on display next to an altar dedicated to Latin American writers, right around the corner from the Checkout Desk in Hamersly Library. Next week, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite mini ofrenda, and we’ll announce the winner(s) at the Hamersly Halloween party on Oct 30th.

15/10/2026

Join us at Hamersly Library on Oct 30th from 1-4pm for a Halloween celebration filled with music, candy, refreshments, and fun. Wear your costume–spooky, funny, or creative–for a chance to win a prize!

WOU community! You're invited to celebrate El Día de Mu***os (Day of the Dead) by creating your own mini ofrenda, a small altar decorated with meaningful items to honor loved ones who have passed. Learn about the cultural significance of ofrendas and the traditions behind this celebration.

When: Tuesday, October 20
Time: 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Where: Hamersly Library, Room HL107

All are welcome, and all materials will be provided!

Note: Feel free to bring a photo of a loved one or a small meaningful item, such as something they enjoyed, to include in your ofrenda. If you don’t have anything to bring, no worries! You can always add something later.

We hope you’ll join us for this opportunity to learn, create, and reflect together.

¡Saludos!
