"Preliminary sales data from regulators at the State of Maine's Office of Ma*****na Policy (OMP) indicate Maine’s ma*****na retailers grossed about $1.4 million and made 21,194 transactions during the first month of retail sales."

Maine’s adult-use market launched on October 9 and saw sales from six active licensees that month. Three more adult-use retailers opened their doors during November.

The era of cannabis prohibition has finally ended in Maine!

“The delays were unfortunate and unnecessary, but in the end we’ve succeeded in replacing prohibition with a thoughtful policy that legalizes, regulates, and taxes ma*****na sales for adults 21 and over.” —MPP Deputy Director Matthew Schweich, one of the leaders of the 2016 campaign

Retail sales of adult-use cannabis will finally begin on Friday!

How much can you buy? Where can you consume it? Will sales be cash only? What happens if you get pulled over?

"The state Office of Ma*****na Policy delayed its planned June launch of the adult-use market because of the COVID-19 pandemic but now expects to allow the first wave of recreational ma*****na testing labs, grow facilities and manufacturing labs to open by the end of the first quarter, which ends in September, director Erik Gundersen said Wednesday."

The first wave of grows, manufacturing plants and testing labs will open in the fall, giving the industry time to prepare for consumer sales.

PORTLANDERS: Today is the last day to sign the petition to remove the cap on retail cannabis stores in Portland. The city council recently set a cap and we think it should be treated like craft breweries. Please reach out to [email protected] to schedule a time to sign today.

Portland will move forward with licensing for cannabis businesses, but the details remain controversial: "The city stood by its plan to cap the number of ma*****na retail licenses at 20 and the score sheet it created to decide who will get one."

Maine's biggest city adopts a local licensing system, fee schedule and rules for medical and recreational ma*****na businesses.

“We are simply unable to provide any concrete timelines in these uncertain times. We cannot tell you with any level of certainty when towns will be able to take action… and we certainly cannot set a definitive retail sales launch date amidst a public health pandemic.” —Erik Gundersen, director of the Maine Office of Ma*****na Policy

Maine's ma*****na czar says launching the adult-use industry by June is 'simply unrealistic.'
