Congratulations to Shorewood Intermediate School students Emma K. and Georgia C., who competed in the state level competition of the National Civics Bee. Both students had incredible competitions.
In her second trip to the state finals, Georgia was able to improve upon her top three finish from last year to become this year’s STATE CHAMPION! She will travel to Washington DC in the fall to compete in the national championship.

Shorewood Civics students held Committee Hearings last week as part of the SHS Legislative Semester process. Shorewood offers this program so students can learn about state government and build skills by acting as legislators, authoring bills, conducting hearings, and finding common ground on issues through respectful discourse.

Shorewood Intermediate School 7th and 8th graders provided a warm welcome, especially for their former teachers, during last week's Lake Bluff 6th grade visit. Part of the spring school transition process, 6th graders had lunch with students and spent time in classrooms. They will participate in other school activities in the weeks ahead.
Thanks to all of our teachers and building leaders for making the visit a big success!

Dear Shorewood Neighbors,
The RED BAG is back!
Last year, your donations helped Shorewood High School's New Horizons students provide two tons of food to the Kinship Community Food Bank. This year we're aiming for five tons! New Horizons students have an important connection to Kinship, and they work to support this community resource every week.
Red bags will arrive Saturday, May 2nd and will be picked up Saturday, May 9th — all by our wonderful Shorewood students.
Please keep an eye out and fill that bag!
