We had a great time at the Cruisin’ For The Trades Car & Bike Show in the Haymarket showing off our 1989 Dodge Diplomat cruiser (and modern recruiting SUV). Thanks to all who stopped by to say hi! 🚨🚔

Please help us say congratulations to Dianne Campbell! She officially retired from LPD's Property and Evidence Unit this week after 36 years of service.

When she started in 1990, a lot of evidence was on cassette tapes and Polaroid photos. Now there is digital photo, video, audio and phone data. Back then, DNA testing capabilities weren't yet established here. Now a significant amount of evidence is DNA-related.

Her role included preserving and disposing of evidence, documenting and testifying in court to chain of custody. Almost 965,000 pieces of evidence came into LPD over the course of her career!

Thank you for a lifetime of service to the Lincoln Police Department and City of Lincoln Government! 🎉🚨🚔

What goes best with donuts on National Donut Day? Caffeine, of course! ☕️🥤🍩

Thanks to Reid Hoffmann from Hastings for dropping off a large supply of coffee, soda and energy drinks to keep some pep in our step!

He is relocating to Lincoln after serving with Hastings Fire Department. His uncle is with the Southbridge Police Department in Massachusetts. We are grateful for the show of appreciation to our community’s first responders.

National Donut Day? Say less! 🍩🚨🚔

Yes, we know there's a stereotype.
Yes, we're okay with that.

TRAFFIC DIRECTION 101🚦Directing traffic is something every officer needs to know! ⚠️🚨🚔

Especially on game days in Lincoln, the roads get busy and LPD helps get you where you want to go as safely and quickly as possible.

Remember, when you see an officer directing traffic, their hand signals supersede the traffic lights.

Our recruits learned the science (and art) of traffic direction today with the added challenge of inclement weather! 🌧️

Ride along with Recruit Elijah Wigington as he navigates our Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)!

EVOC Week includes passing two challenge courses, facilitated by specialized LPD driving instructors.

It's harder than it looks! It’s all about making sure officers are safe behind the wheel. 🚔🚨

Even our SROs spend time in the classroom!

Law enforcement school resource officers from across the region are in Lincoln this week completing National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) training.

This training teaches skills and best practices to enhance school safety and collaboration between districts and police.

These officers will be better prepared to promote safer learning environments and better outcomes for students.

Thanks to NASRO, Nebraska Wesleyan University and all of our participating law enforcement agencies. 🏫🍎🚔

SAFETY BY THE NUMBERS | Here's a look at the success of the Nuisance Vehicle Ordinance in Lincoln! We recently completed a second Memorial Day weekend traffic detail and here are the updated numbers.

LPD has deemed ❗150 vehicles❗ disorderly and impounded them since April 15, 2025, including 26 in the last two months and 7 of those over the holiday weekend.

59% of those occurred on O Street. 56% occurred between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. with weekends being the busiest.

City code allows LPD to impound vehicles involved in street racing and reckless driving. Vehicles will be towed but can be immediately released after the first violation, along with receiving a written notice. Vehicles will be impounded for 10 days on the second or subsequent violations.

Help us make Lincoln roads safer for everyone.
