Out of the loop, pt. 7: a Before and After look at the Neighborhoods of the Inner Loop. Wait-there was a BEFORE the Inner Loop? 👀 Check out Local History ROCs! newest blog post about the ruptured downtown community the Inner Loop left in its wake after it opened in 1974. The pictures are so interesting (and available on our website in the Local History collection!) and who doesn’t love a good historical map? Happy Reading! 👓 💫

🕯️📚You know this place, but you've never seen it from this angle. Get a look at the back end of your Central Library during Spooky Stories in the Stacks. See the spooky stories that hold up our building's long history come to life while walking amongst the stacks that hold it up. 🕯️📚 You'll explore the maze of closed stacks under the building and see the beautiful main floor of the building from a new angle. Along the way, we hope you get to meet some of the building's more secretive residents - the ones that only visit after dark. If you're lucky, they'll be open to telling you, their stories. 📚
