The photos captured more than a retirement. From hugs and handshakes to his final radio sign-off, it was a meaningful sendoff surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family.

Thank you, Deputy Chief Miller, for your years of service and commitment to the profession.

We wish you happiness, good health, and many new adventures in the years ahead.

Congratulations on your retirement, Deputy Chief. Enjoy this next chapter. 👏

Building global connections through education, leadership, and public safety 🌎

CSO Dan had the opportunity to participate in a special presentation for delegates from Colombia’s General Rafael Reyes Prieto War College.

The visit included discussions on criminal justice, emergency and crisis management, student cadet programs, security studies, and international collaboration.

UPD had the opportunity to provide an alcohol safety presentation for Gamma Phi Beta at the UNLV Student Union.

Ofc. Franklin and CSO Dan Williams led the presentation and facilitated fun, educational activities using Fatal Vision Goggles to demonstrate how alcohol and ma*****na can impact judgment, coordination, and the ability to safely operate vehicles, scooters, and bikes.

Thank you to Gamma Phi Beta for inviting us and for taking the time to engage in an important conversation about safety, responsibility, and looking out for one another.

Buckle up, Nevada. 🚗

From May 13–31, 2026, University Police Department Southern Command will join law enforcement agencies across Nevada for the Joining Forces Click It or Ticket Campaign.

This campaign is focused on education, awareness, and keeping motorists safe. Seat belts save lives, and taking a few seconds to buckle up can cut your risk of fatal injury in half.

A quick reminder:
Wear your seat belt every trip, every time. Make sure it fits properly, and never place the shoulder belt behind your back or under your arm.

UPD Southern Command remains committed to supporting Nevada’s Zero Fatalities goal by helping raise awareness about safe driving, seat belt use, impaired driving, distracted driving, and other roadway safety concerns.

For more information about safe driving in Nevada, visit ZeroFatalitiesNV.com.
