๐๐ VBEMS (RESCUE 14) - NEPTUNE FESTIVAL HOMETOWN HERO! ๐๐
WE HAVE SOME VERY SPECIAL NEWS TO SHARE!
It is both an honor and a privilege to share that Jenni โJennimacโ McFarland, Captain of Administration for Rescue 14, has been named a 2026 Neptune Festival Hometown Hero representing the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services! ๐๐
For more than 23 years, Jenni has been a dedicated member of the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad โ and from the day she joined in 2003, she has been a cornerstone of our Rescue 14 family.
In fact, Jenni's commitment to serving others was recognized early in her journey when she received her first Hometown Hero Award just a few years after joining the squad. More than two decades later, she continues to show up with that same energy, passion and dedication she brought on day one.
And that is what makes this recognition so special.
Jenni isn't simply someone who wears the uniform. She is someone who continually finds ways to serve, lead, teach, encourage and give back.
As an active EMT-B and current Captain of Administration for Rescue 14, Jenni has received numerous honors with VBEMS, including Unit Commendations, Class Act Awards and Significant Incident Award. She is also a certified CPR Instructor a member of the VBVRS Honor Guard and plays an important role behind the scenes โ coordinating the Rescue 14 Annual Awards Banquet, Annual Oyster Fest Events while helping lead teams in recruitment, membership, recognition and retention efforts.
But Jenni's service doesn't stop at the bay doors of Rescue 14.
She has spent years giving back to the Virginia Beach community through Nimmo United Methodist Church, First Colonial High School as a Career Mentor, and through decades of involvement in Scouting America. Her leadership in the Tidewater Council Scouting America organization has earned her multiple honors, including the District Award of Merit.
Her commitment to the community has also been recognized through the WTKR News Channel 3 Community Star โ Everyday Hero Award Program.
And while VBEMS and volunteer service are a huge part of who Jenni is, her dedication to helping others continues into her professional life.
Since 2008, she has served as an Emergency Department Technician at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, where she continues to care for patients with compassion and professionalism.
Since 2011, she has proudly served families throughout Hampton Roads as a professional REALTORยฎ, helping guide her clients through some of lifeโs most meaningful transitions and important decisions.
Behind all of those accomplishments is a family that has supported her every step of the way โ her husband of 33 years and childhood sweetheart, U.S. Marine Dan McFarland, their sons Justin and Jacob, daughter-in-law Maddie, and their first grandson Jasper, who joined the family last year. ๐
There is so much more to Jenni's story than can fit into one post.
But perhaps what means the most to us at Rescue 14 is this:
For more than two decades, Jenni has continued to answer the call โ for her patients, her squad, her community, her friends and her family.
She Leads by Example.
She has a Servant Leaders Heart.
She encourages.
She gives back.
And she keeps showing up!
That is what a Hometown Hero looks like to us. ๐๐
๐๐ CONGRATULATIONS, JENNIMAC! ๐๐
