Earlier this week, I had the honor of speaking with high school students interested in becoming teachers at an event hosted by the University of Central Missouri. (UCM)

I was honored to welcome these students to UCM and join a couple of their breakout sessions.

I know these students will serve our community well as they embark on their calling to teach, and I wish them great success as they consider where they will attend college. Of course, I had to recommend UCM.

In this week’s edition of “Under Two from the Capitol,” I wanted to discuss what we are doing in Jefferson City to support our law enforcement officers and deter crime across the state.

I am proud to report that our efforts are working, and I'm proud to have played a small role in keeping the people of Missouri safe by supporting our law enforcement officers.

Today I had the honor and privilege of meeting with students from the University of Missouri’s Civic Leaders Internship Program (CLIP) to discuss how private-sector businesses interact with government.

These students were engaged and asked good questions throughout our meeting, and I look forward to hopefully seeing them in the building in January.

In the meantime, please enjoy this week’s edition of “Under Two from the Capitol.”

This week, I returned to the Capitol for the annual veto session. Although the legislature did not override any of the Governor’s vetoes from this past session, it did allow me to review legislation for the upcoming session with Dakota.

January will be here before we know it, and I look forward to hopefully having the opportunity to introduce once again good, common-sense legislation that helps our community and state. If you have an idea you would like to discuss for next session, please don’t hesitate to call our office.

In the meantime, please enjoy this week’s edition of “Under Two from the Capitol.”

Today and every day, we remember those who lost their lives during the tragic events of 9/11. Please take a moment today to remember those we lost and thank those who ran toward danger to help their fellow Americans.

Yesterday, we welcomed the Johnson County Climb group to the Capitol. It was an honor to show them around the building and speak with them about our legislative process.

I always enjoy speaking to constituents. If you are ever in Jefferson City, please feel free to stop by my office.

On this week’s edition of “Under Two from the District.” We traveled to Holden for a meeting with city officials regarding stormwater issues the community has been addressing over the last several years. We look forward to working with the City of Holden to ensure that this issue gets resolved either through grants or through our state budget process next session.

Please enjoy this week’s edition of “Under Two from the District.”

In this week's edition of “Under Two from the District,” we take a look at the newly renovated Humphrey’s building at the University of Central Missouri (UCM).

UCM is a pillar of our community, and I was proud to work with my colleagues to secure the restoration of nearly $9 million in last session's House Bill (HB) 2003, so they can continue educating the next generation of community leaders.

It is an honor and privilege to represent our community, and I would encourage all of you to visit the University of Central Missouri and all that our district has to offer.

Please enjoy this week’s edition of “Under Two from the District.”

Today, I was honored to return to where my career began, Warrensburg High School, to announce that I will be working on creating a “Teachers Bill of Rights” to help protect our teachers.

Our teachers are some of our hardest-working and most underappreciated professionals, despite having one of the most important jobs in our state. I want to ensure that the State of Missouri is doing what it can to protect them.

Please enjoy this week’s edition of “Under Two from the District.”
