My team had the honor to recognize two remarkable students during commencement who have received appointments to United States Service Academies. Daniel Spooner of Newman Catholic High School, who reports to the U.S. Naval Academy next month, and Nakia Ollivierre of Waterloo West High School, who is headed to West Point!

These young leaders have worked incredibly hard, and we’re proud to see them represent Iowa as they prepare to serve our country. Wishing them both the very best in this next chapter!

Team Hinson recently stopped by St. Luke’s Child Protection Center in Hiawatha to learn more about their work and thank their team for serving vulnerable kids in our community. You can tell every detail, from the design of calming spaces for interview rooms to the team of hardworking professionals, was decided to help kids feel safe and cared for during incredibly hard situations.

My team had a blast at the Waterloo Fire Department’s EMS Open House! It was great to see so many families come out and kids getting the chance to explore the trucks and equipment up close. Huge thank you to our first responders for keeping us and our neighborhoods safe!

Jackson Lampe is a remarkable young man, and I was proud to nominate him to the U.S. Naval Academy. In addition to receiving an appointment to the Naval Academy, Jackson also earned offers from the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy—an extraordinary achievement.

It is inspiring to see a young person like Jackson answer the call to serve our country. I’m especially humbled by his desire to honor the brave Iowans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Best wishes, Jackson, as you begin your service in just a few short weeks!

Dubuque graduate to honor fallen Iowa soldiers at U.S. Naval Academy A Dubuque high school graduate entering the U.S. Naval Academy this fall wants his service to honor Iowans killed in combat.

Grinnell Regional Medical Center is one of several Iowa hospitals that benefits from the Rural Community Hospital Demonstration program, which supports rural hospitals and improves patient care by providing more reliable Medicare support.

I recently joined Rep. Randy Feenstra in supporting efforts to reauthorize this program. It has been vital to the long-term health & economic stability of our rural communities.

I also helped secure a major investment for the labor and delivery unit at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. I’ll keep fighting to advance policies that strengthen & protect access to care for Iowa families!

My team attended an awards ceremony for students at Wahlert Catholic High School, where they presented a congressional certificate to Jackson Lampe for earning an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Congratulations to Jackson and all our service academy appointees on this incredible accomplishment!

With graduation season underway, my team was honored to attend commencement at the University of Northern Iowa and celebrate the Class of 2026. Congratulations to all the graduates, along with the families and professors who helped them get to this point!

My team was proud to attend the groundbreaking for Reach 4, Phase 1 of the Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project. Our communities have fought hard to recover and rebuild after devasting floods, and investments like this are essential to protecting lives, homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure.
