Was honored to work together with Oceana in passing the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act, federal legislation in the 117th Congress to place a national prohibition on the sale of shark fins.
This law will help protect our mano & restore their populations in our oceans.

One month after I took office I visited the Bobby Benson Center in Kahuku in early 2021.
The center is a residential & outpatient program for adolescents, ages 13-17 struggling with homelessness, alcohol and drug addiction.
A true gift to our O’ahu & North Shore community, I am proud to announce $1.2M in Federal Community Project Funding to support facilities and new equipment.
Mahalo to the staff of the Bobby Benson Center for your tireless efforts and commitment to our keiki.

Excited to announce that the Molokai Community Health Center has been selected as a recipient for FY23 Community Project Funding in the amount of $1,664,000.
FQHC’s are critical to rural community healthcare and I am grateful for all they do for our Molokaʻi families.
Mele Kalikimaka from our 'ohana to yours 🏝️🎅🏽🎼🤙🏽

As a parent to two daughters who have been raised in the ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi immersion education program since they were 15 months old, I was proud to cast my YES vote today for S.989 a bill authored by my colleague Senator Brian Schatz - The Native American Language Resource Center Act.
This bill, headed to the President's desk is a BIG DEAL for the indigenous language revitalization movement nationally and Senator Schatz made sure - Native Hawaiians were included in the bill. 🤙🏽

It was an honor to preside over the floor of the House for my final time in the 117th Congress.
Since statehood in 1959, only 18 individuals have ever represented Hawai’i in Congress.
From Miloli’i to Hilo to Washington D.C. it has truly been an experience of a lifetime. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
