I am deeply disturbed by reports of a mass shooting plot targeting a Hindu temple in Aurora. Everyone deserves to worship in peace and safety, and no one should live in fear of being targeted because of their faith or ethnicity.

I stand with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, our Hindu and South Asian neighbors, and the entire Aurora community. It is incumbent on all of us to speak out against hatred and bigotry wherever they arise.

My family and I were worshipping at our Hindu temple in Aurora on Sunday when a white supremacist attempted a mass shooting targeting Indian Americans. I'm grateful to those who helped prevent a tragedy, but we must come together to confront the hatred that put so many innocent lives at risk.

Trump's war in Iran is the reason gas and diesel prices are out of control. Lifting sanctions to import fuel from Russia will offer little relief here at home while handing Putin a financial lifeline to continue waging war against Ukraine.

The U.S. must stand with Ukraine and restore these sanctions immediately.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are questioning the agreement’s legality.

Just a few weeks ago, the House unanimously passed a bill to ensure FEMA funds were distributed without regard for the political party of the families in need. Yet here is President Trump, refusing to give much-needed aid to Americans because he can only see our country as red versus blue.

Every American deserves help when struck by natural disaster, and I will do all I can alongside Governor Pritzker and the rest of the Illinois delegation to help our communities rebuild.
