Bejan was a middle school student on September 11, 2001. On 9/11, and in the months that followed, he was exposed to dangerous hazards and debris, for which he developed respiratory issues, anxiety and PTSD. The WTC Health Program provides no-cost, 9/11-related healthcare to those who were there, including children, teenagers, and students at the time.

On September 11, 2001, Nadia was a 20-year-old college student attending NYU. She was exposed to dangerous hazards and debris due to the 9/11 tragedy and got diagnosed with breast cancer several years later. Just like Nadia, many children, teenagers and students who were present during these events now face life-long health issues directly related to their 9/11 exposure. Watch Nadia's story.

The YRC will support research on the health and educational impacts of 9/11 on those who were 21 or younger at the time of their 9/11 exposures. This session will be led by researchers at RAND who are helping us shape a community involvement strategy for the YRC.

Important Information for WTC Health Program Survivor members:
The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 requires the WTC Health Program medical and pharmacy claims for Survivor members go through a process called Coordination of Benefits.

As a Survivor member, your Program provider will bill your primary health insurance first, then any other health insurance you may have, then they will bill the WTC Health Program last for any remaining amount. This leaves no out-of-pocket cost to you for treatment or prescriptions of a certified WTC-related health condition.

DYK, all members of the WTC Health Program are required to have primary health insurance, including pharmacy and medical coverage? If a member does not obtain primary health insurance, it will impact the Program’s ability to pay for their monitoring and treatment.

Unlike a health insurance program that covers all health conditions, the WTC Health Program is a limited health benefit program that provides medical monitoring and treatment for certified WTC-related health conditions only. As a WTC Responder or Certified-Eligible Survivor, you are eligible to receive an annual monitoring exam. These exams monitor any certified WTC-related health conditions you may have as well as help identify any possible WTC-related conditions or symptoms.
