Last week, during the Labor Caucus’ Week of Action I spent time touring the Bowers Fabrication Shop in Beltsville with Steamfitters Local 602 and got to hear directly from apprentices building their futures through this program.

I was especially impressed to learn about the opportunities for people in our community and from across the country for the chance to train here in Maryland’s Fourth District.

Visited Adventist HealthCare in Ft Washington to discuss their vision for a new hospital facility that can better meet the growing needs of our community and expand access to critical care services.

Hospitals and patients are already facing rising costs and uncertainty, worsened by House Republicans cutting health care to fund tax breaks for billionaires and corporations. As Obamacare tax credits expire and changes from the so-called “One Ugly Bill Act” take effect, families will pay more for care while providers are left with fewer resources.

Our communities deserve better, and I’ll keep fighting to protect access to affordable, quality health care in Maryland’s Fourth District.

Leaders serve their community. Come with me to Bolana Enterprises where every week their team steps up to serve meals for local families in need.

During National Small Business month, it was great to spend time at Bolana Enterprises in Beltsville packing lunches for the homeless with employees and leadership while having great conversations about family, community, sports, business, and the challenges many immigrant communities are facing right now.

What stood out most was hearing how the owners sold the company to the workers themselves, keeping everything in-house and investing back into the people who helped build the business from the ground up. A powerful example of community, opportunity, and shared success right here in Maryland’s Fourth District.

Honored to join the American Legion Colmar Manor Post 131 and the Town of Bladensburg this Memorial Day to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

I had the chance to speak on Navy Petty Officer First Class Christopher J. Chambers of Cheverly, Md, a UMD graduate and Navy SEAL who lost his life in the line of duty in 2024.

Today, we honor Chris and all the brave servicemembers whose sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Six years after George Floyd’s murder, the fight for accountability & equal justice is far from over. That’s why I reintroduced the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

No family should watch their loved one become a movement, & no community should accept injustice as normal.

It was powerful seeing so many people come together in Alabama for All Roads Lead South. We are in an urgent moment, and this fight is bigger than any one of us.

Vote like your life depends on it. Because it does.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Here in Maryland’s Fourth District, where military service runs deep, we also stand with the Gold Star families and loved ones who carry that sacrifice with them every day.

To them, and to all who have loved someone in uniform, please know that this community stands with you, and that the sacrifice of your heroes will never be forgotten.

I joined community leaders, medical professionals, and advocates at the CAP-VIP Gun Violence Summit to discuss real solutions to gun violence and how we can better support survivors and young people impacted by it.

At the same time, House Republicans voted down efforts to strengthen ATF tracing data and crack down on ghost guns.

We cannot claim to take gun violence seriously while blocking commonsense measures that help save lives.

The affordability crisis is underway, and working families are paying the price.

While costs continue to rise on groceries, gas, electricity, and health care, the Trump administration keeps focusing on the wrong priorities.

House and Senate Democrats are standing together to keep the pressure on and refocus on what actually matters: lowering costs and making life more affordable for the American people.
