We must act now to save L. B. Landry High School! ✊🏽

The clock is ticking, and Landry’s students, educators, families, and legacy cannot afford further delay. I am calling on NOLA Public Schools and the Orleans Parish School Board to act immediately to keep Landry open, identify a qualified operator, provide the resources students need, and ensure that the Algiers community has a meaningful voice in every decision.

I had the honor of joining the Edna Karr Cougars and the Lafayette Renaissance on the newly revitalized Morris FX Jeff Stadium which I helped secure federal funding for.

On the West Bank where I grew up, there is a historic lack of recreational activities and infrastructure investment, as well as a feeling that these areas are not prioritized. Make no mistake - Algiers is not forgotten – it is a priority.

For the past 20 years, the Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. The Municipal Auditorium has stood as a living monument to Katrina’s devastating impact on New Orleans.

In 2025, the timeline for the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Project expired, leaving the project’s future uncertain. Today, I’m proud to share news that will bring you HOPE.

FEMA extended the deadline for the $38 Million renovation of the Auditorium until 2028. This represents a chance to finally get the job done – and turn a symbol of tragedy into one of hope and renewal for our city’s future!

For far too long, students at under-resourced schools have faced barriers to access to STEM fields. Today, that changes.

I’m proud to introduce the Equity in Research Act, alongside my colleagues Representative LaMonica McIver m, Congressman Christian D. Menefee , and Congressman Raul Ruiz, MD , which creates a targeted National Science Foundation grant program to increase research capacity for under-resourced colleges and universities.

Let’s strengthen our nation’s innovation pipeline and ensure all students, not just some, can pursue a future in STEM.

Prostate cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in men, with Black men twice as likely as white men to die from the disease. But that doesn’t have to be the case, and prostate cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence. 

Through affordable preventative care, early detection through PSA screenings, and better treatment options, let’s save the lives of our fathers, brothers, and loved ones.

Let’s increase awareness this month and every month, and beat prostate cancer, ONCE AND FOR ALL.
