From the Notes of Cabinet – 5th April 2023
Topic: Expansion of UWI Five Islands Campus

The plans for the expansion of the UWI Five Islands Campus are congealing. It is estimated that dormitory-capacity for 3,500 students will be a part of the programme. The planners estimate that these numbers will not be sufficient to meet student demand for housing. Private sector actors are encouraged to invest.

In January this year, The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) CEO, Mr. Sultan Al-Marshad, and Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, the Hon. Gaston A. Browne, signed an $80 million financing agreement for the expansion project of the University of the West Indies at Five Islands (UWI) in Antigua and Barbuda.
