House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Democrats

Nellis Air Force Base is home to one of the best military hospitals in the country. This week RM Congressman Mark Takano was able to visit the base, meet with officials & tour the flight line. Staying informed about what impacts our airmen helps us better serve them when they transition to veteran status.

Toxic exposure doesn't just affect veterans. Their families feel the effects too, sometimes decades later. During RM Congressman Mark Takano’s roundtable at the Atomic Museum this week, he met with veterans and downwinders who have been impacted by radiation and other toxic exposures. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation including Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congressman Steven Horsford & Congresswoman Susie Lee.

Ranking Member Congressman Mark Takano was honored to join the Nevada delegation this Memorial Day, to pay tribute to the servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. From Woodland Cemetery to the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, each stop was a reminder of the debt we owe our fallen heroes.

Today, we honor the memories of those brave Americans who died in service to our nation, including countless LGBTQI+ servicemembers.

It is in their memory that we are fighting alongside House Armed Services Committee Democrats & House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Democrats to end discrimination in our military & against veterans.

Memorial Day is a reminder for us to reflect on and pay tribute to the stories of our lost service members. Those who lose their lives in service rely on us to take care of their families in ways they no longer can. It is our duty to pay for the cost of war and to never leave their families behind. To the families who have lost a loved one in service, our nation can never repay our debt to you or make up for your loss. Our hearts are with you on this day as you reflect back on the moments you all had together. We must always remember those who have given their lives in service to our country, and honor their sacrifice, not only today, but every day.
