Senator Ben Ray Luján U.S. Senator for New Mexico. Born & raised in Nambé. Proud son of a union family. Farmer, mountain biker, delivering for the place we call home.

In the final weeks of session, I was proud to deliver on several New Mexican priorities in the Senate:

🌳 I led the unanimous Senate passage of legislation strengthening cooperation with New Mexico’s Land Grant communities and protecting traditional uses.

📄 I helped secure bipartisan tax reforms to improve transparency, strengthen taxpayer protections, and make the IRS work more efficiently.

⚡️ I called on state regulators to protect families and small businesses from having to shoulder the rising costs of serving large data centers.

🏡 I spoke out against the administration’s “pocket rescission” that would strip nearly $1 billion in funding meant to support New Mexican families.

New Mexicans shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for data centers.

As a former utility commissioner, I urged the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners to protect families from higher utility bills driven by data centers’ massive energy demands. I’ll continue leading this effort in Congress to protect New Mexicans from rising costs.

New Mexico’s delegation urges utility regulators to keep data center expansion costs off household and small-business bills.

This is what they’re fighting for. This is what WE’RE fighting for.

Are you with us in standing up against a foreign-owned uranium mining company coming in and destroying the Rio Chama watershed?

Congratulations to Inez Russell Gomez, who, in my opinion, is one heck of a journalist and New Mexico is lucky to have her!

Inez Russell Gomez was honored for her editorials about the controversial merging last year of Santa Fe’s E.J. Martinez and Chaparral elementary schools.

President Trump promised to lower costs on day one.

It’s just another broken promise. New Mexicans are paying the price for Trump’s never-ending war and reckless trade war.

The Rio Chama Watershed is a sacred place. It belongs to the people of New Mexico, not foreign mining companies who want to come in and destroy our air, land, and water.

I’ve joined with folks from all over New Mexico to protect this land and preserve our natural resources.

Keith Sonderling has stripped overtime protections from workers, undercut our labor brothers and sisters, and sided with big corporations over working families.

At a time when costs are skyrocketing and paychecks aren’t keeping up, workers need a Labor Secretary who will fight for them, not special interests and big corporations. That’s why I voted against his confirmation.

The Senate voted 47-41 Wednesday night to confirm Keith Sonderling, acting Secretary of Labor, to the post permanently — filling a seat in President Trump’s cabinet that has been officially empty s…

Donald Trump and Russ Vought illegally halted nearly $1 BILLION in federal funding for kids, K-12 students, small businesses, and families across America.

I joined my colleagues, Senator Murray and Senator Merkley, to stop presidents from stealing taxpayer dollars. Republicans BLOCKED our efforts to fall in line with Donald Trump.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) blocked the effort, meaning the Trump administration will succeed in eliminating the funding it deemed “wasteful.”

It was an honor to meet with New Mexico’s Teacher of the Year, Nancy Orta from Las Cruces!

Ms. Orta has dedicated her life to her students, her school, and her community. I’m so proud of all she has achieved, and of all the incredible teachers across New Mexico who dedicate themselves to educating and inspiring our students.

The Trump White House couldn’t even spell the “UNITED STATES” correctly in its new AI agreement.

How can we trust this administration to get the safeguards right to protect Americans? This is why I’m calling for a bipartisan Select Committee on AI.

The letter detailing President Trump’s pact with key AI leaders posted Tuesday following his meeting with technology leaders contains a typo, misspelling his title as “President of the Unites State…
