And that’s a wrap on the 2025-26 school year! 🎬🍿✨

Our Power Readers mentors and students had an amazing year together! Each session got their own End of Year Party where they celebrated their reading journeys with snacks, games, and – of course – books!

Thank you to all our mentors who spent the school year helping their mentees develop reading confidence and expand their social emotional skills!

Happy Asian / Pacific American Heritage Month from EWDC!

To celebrate, here’s just a few of the books we include in our distributions so our students with Asian and Pacific Islander heritage can see themselves represented on the page!

There are just 3 spots left for our annual trivia fundraiser, Quiz for Kids!

This event is an exclusive opportunity to network with and compete against some of the top law and lobbying firms in DC, all while supporting EWDC’s free reading programs! Special thank you to for hosting!

We’re thrilled to welcome Jason Beckwith to our Board of Directors!

Jason is the Senior Vice President, Human Resources for the Washington Nationals. He says: “I’m honored to join the Everybody Wins DC Board and support its mission to build confidence, opportunity, and a lifelong love of reading for children across our community. Literacy creates access, builds confidence and changes lives, and I’m excited to help advance this important work.”

Thank you, Jason, for joining our mission and helping students thrive through the power of reading!

One week ago, we celebrated reading joy at Pearl Street Warehouse. The most memorable part of the evening was when Power Readers students – Zakari, Blayr, and Agatha – took to the stage. Their love for EWDC was infectious, as evidenced by everyone who raised a paddle to volunteer one hour with students like them.

You may know NPR for their Tiny Desk Concerts, but our students know them as StoryTime superstars!

Thank you to Stacey Foxwell from NPR for joining kindergarteners at J.O. Wilson for a read-aloud and coloring activity that teaches them it’s okay to make mistakes and how to make the most of them! Our students had a great time and left the StoryTime feeling uplifted and inspired!
