"Since the founding of this nation, we have seen systematic attempts to undermine the many rooms of our collective home that God has prepared for us. From the institution of slavery to Jim Crow segregation to counter Reconstruction, redlining, to the erasure of elements of our shared history, and now the dismantling of the Voting Rights Act. This exclusion is not just political but theological. It is telling a child of God that there isn't a room for their voice in the house we have built together. By devaluing their inherent divinity, these acts of exclusion stand in direct opposition to the open and inclusive heart of a loving God."
