AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent volunteer Connie has been serving for more than 12 years. Through volunteering, Connie creates connections with preschoolers in Multnomah County, Oregon, empowering students. Connie says volunteering has helped her through challenging times and is rewarding.

'Grandma Connie' finds family and fulfillment at Rockwood preschool through Multnomah County volunteer program Multnomah County's Foster Grandparent Program is bridging the gap between generations, filling kids and seniors with a special familial love.

As the hustle and bustle of career and responsibilities wind down, volunteering can serve as a second act for many people, offering a new chapter of life experiences. Volunteers often find purpose, connection, and a feeling of usefulness in their “second act.”

That’s how AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer Charles started 15 years ago. After spending 30 years as a certified public accountant, Charles knew he could tap into his experience to help others navigate tax filing. Tax day is quickly approaching! AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serve to help Americans during tax season. Last year, more than 1,770 AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers supported more than 101,000 people across America with their tax returns and with building their financial literacy. These volunteers helped return more than $60 million to individuals.

Congratulations to the 53 AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers who were recognized by the City of Albuquerque for their years of hard work.

These older adults, like 94-year-old Dorothy who has served for 40 years, are a testament to the incredible spirit and dedication AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers possess.
