The National Day of Action that will be held at Eastern on Monday, December 9 from 6 - 8 p.m. will include a Mayoral Candidates Forum on Education. The six front-runners in the mayoral race have accepted an invitation to attend. This will be the first time the mayoral candidates have come together to share their views on the future of education in DC. Please share this important information with your school communities, and encourage your parents and teachers to attend. This is an opportunity to develop a community-driven vision for public education in the District of Columbia.

Good Morning to our wonderful PTA!
We have been working hard in planning our STEM Night for this year. It will take place on May 29, 2013 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. I wanted to reach out and share a couple of ways that the PTA can get involved this year!
1. Volunteer- If there are any parents that are willing to assist with clean up or setting up/ breaking down of the tables and chairs for the event please let me know!
2. Refreshments- We welcome the idea of the PTA selling/donating refreshments for the event. We'd like to keep it simple so that clean up will be easy!
3. Sign In- If there are any parents that are willing to assist with signing all students, parents, community members, and STEM partners in that night, we could definitely use your help!
4. Parents- We would like our parent turn out to be even greater than before, so please spread the word about STEM Night. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET MORE PARENTS TO COME!
5. Teacher Assistance- All of our teachers will be facilitating activities that the students will learn from.. Feel free to ask your child's teacher if you can assist them in any way.
* We are also searching for one of those canopy/tents for an outside activity involving the robots the middle school students have been building.
The goal is to make each STEM Night better than the last one! Thank you for all of your support!
