what is your favorite Caldecott winner?
It's Caldecott Day! On this day, in 1938, the Randolph Caldecott Medal—awarded annually by the ALA's Association for Library Service to Children to the "most distinguished American picture book"—was first given out. The recipient that year was Dorothy P. Lathrop, for her work on "Animals of the Bible." In honor of the day, we ask: who are some of your favorite picture book illustrators? https://www.librarything.com/tag/picture%20book
The theme for today’s sale is St. Patrick's Day. We are featuring a selection of novels, short stories, and plays by Irish authors, non-fiction books exploring Irish history, and guidebooks on the Emerald Isle. Drop by and check out what we have to offer!

Lucy Maud Montgomery -- a woman known to millions as the creator of Anne Shirley from "Anne of Green Gables" -- was born on this day in 1874. Growing up on Prince Edward Island, a passion for writing entered Montgomery's world early and she began journaling and writing poetry at a young age. Once she was an adult, her teaching career was easily overshadowed by her love for writing, and by her early 30s she had had over 100 short stories published in various newspapers and magazines.
Her most famous novel starring one of literature’s most beloved characters was also her first published book, "Anne of Green Gables." It became a bestseller in Canada and the United States almost at once, and has remained in English publication for over a century. Montgomery went on to write seven sequels in the "Anne" series, and several tangentially-related volumes. By the end of her lifetime, Montgomery had produced 22 novels, 500 short stories & poems, and a memoir. Prince Edward Island, her birthplace and the setting for so much of her work, has become a tourist destination thanks to the talented writing of L.M. Montgomery.
If you'd like to introduce young readers to her classic stories, the complete Anne of Green Gables series is available in a lovely 8-volume box set at https://www.amightygirl.com/anne-of-green-gables-boxed-set
