🌿 This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor Indigenous communities, their enduring traditions, and the ancestral knowledge passed down through generations.

Human milk feeding is more than nourishment. It is a practice rooted in connection, culture, and care. Honoring Indigenous breastfeeding traditions means recognizing the lasting impacts of colonization while uplifting Indigenous leadership, cultural knowledge, and community-led approaches to breastfeeding and lactation support.

Breastfeeding is associated with a lower risk of developing breast cancer, one of the many ways human milk feeding can support health across the life course. Ensuring families have access to the information, resources, and support they need to meet their feeding goals is an important part of supporting healthier families and communities.
