Snaps from European Union in the United States Open House! 📸

A huge thank you to the thousands who joined us, and to our community partners for helping us showcase the best of Ireland. This year’s EU Open House was a timely opportunity to celebrate Ireland’s place in Europe ahead of our Presidency of the Council of the European Union beginning on July 1. 🇮🇪🇪🇺

“I present this bowl of Shamrock in memory of all the brave Irish men and Irish women who came here and who believed in the American promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; in tribute to all they contributed and built here; and in celebration of all that we will do and achieve together in the next 250 years.” - Taoiseach Micheál Martin 🇮🇪🤝🇺🇸

The iconic Shamrock Ceremony was a fitting close to a memorable St. Patrick’s Day in Washington, D.C. From the White House to Capitol Hill, the strong and enduring ties between our nations continue to grow. Sincere thanks to President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Speaker Mike Johnson, and the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus for their warm welcome and continued commitment to the Ireland–U.S. partnership.

Ireland and the United States share a rich history and a relationship strengthened by investment and innovation benefiting both our economies.

Ireland not only serves as a gateway to the EU for US businesses but is also the fifth largest global investor in the US today, driving job creation and supporting local economies in all 50 states.

This St. Patrick’s Day, we highlight the remarkable Irish contribution, not only to the foundation of the USA, but also to its political, economic and social development over the past 250 years.

Lá Fhéile Bríde shona daoibh! Happy St. Brigid’s Day!

Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason traces a line of courage, creativity, and conviction from St. Brigid to Matilda Tone, Mother Jones, and Carmel Snow, and into the 21st century, showing how Irish women have long changed the course of history.

In Ireland, February 1st marks the first day of spring and the celebration of Lá Fhéile Bríde, St. Brigid’s Day — a time traditionally associated with renewal, hope and new beginnings.

This year, we honor the enduring legacy of St. Brigid and celebrate the remarkable contributions Irish women have made throughout history and continue to make today.

From culture and creativity, to leadership, community and innovation, their influence is felt both in Ireland and across the world.

Today, we remember all Jewish victims of the Holocaust, as well as the genocide of the Roma, and the many other victims of N**i atrocities, including those who were murdered for their political or religious beliefs, cultural or ethnic identity, sexual orientation or disability status. We honour them today through remembrance, and every day by continuing to champion human rights and rule of law.

Inniu, cuimhnímid ar gach íospartach Giúdach an Uileloiscthe, fara cinedhíothú na Romach, agus na n-íospartach iomadúil eile ó uafáis na Naitsithe, lena n-áirítear iad siúd a maraíodh mar gheall ar a gcreideamh polaitiúil nó reiligiúnach, a bhféiniúlacht chultúrtha nó eitneach, a gclaonadh gnéasach nó a stádas míchumais. Tugaimid ómós dóibh inniu trí chuimhneachán, agus gach lá trí leanúint orainn ag tacú le cearta an duine agus leis an smacht reachta.
