With the conclusion of the fall semester I want to highlight my outstanding interns in the Tallahassee office. Thank you to these incredible leaders for making a difference in Florida’s Fifth District. I know they will go on to do amazing things.
Meet Jasmyn Hall:
Jasmyn is a senior from Tampa, Florida studying International Affairs at Florida State University. Jasmyn will be graduating this December and recently accepted an offer to participate in the Air Force’s Palace Acquire Internship. “I specifically enjoyed participating in the Tallahassee Veterans Legal Collaborative Farm Share where we were able to pass out food to constituents within the Tallahassee area.”
Meet Georgina Patient:
Georgina is a senior at Florida State University studying International Affairs and Political Science from St. Pete, FL. Having spent this past summer with the Committee on Small Business in Washington, D.C., Georgina was excited to return to Tallahassee and use the skills she learned to make a lasting impact on Florida’s 5th District.
Meet Meia Wakeley:
Mejia is native to Tallahassee, Florida. She is a sophomore Sociology and African American studies student at Florida State University. “I have loved my time being a Congressional intern because I enjoy assisting people in underrepresented communities similar to where I come from!”
Meet Taylor Darks:
Taylor is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a Sociology Doctoral Candidate at the Florida State University. She loves being a congressional intern because “of the amazing people on staff, and the meaningful memories I’ve made.”
Meet Daniel Nieto:
Daniel was born in Venezuela but currently resides in Jupiter, Florida. Daniel is majoring Political Science and International Affairs with minors in Business and Latin American and Hemispheric Affairs at Florida State University. “Working as a congressional intern has increased my admiration and respect for our public servants, especially those that directly deal with the constituents.”

As the Fall semester comes to an end, I must recognize the interns in my Washington, D.C. office. These talented young professionals did an amazing job serving the constituents in Florida’s 5th Congressional District. Thank you for all your hard work!
Meet Alex Turney:
Alex Turney is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Chamblee Charter High School. Alex graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Virginia in May of 2021 and graduated with a Master’s in Public Policy from UVA’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy in May of 2022. Alex wants to continue working on the Hill to support policies that support economic mobility and poverty alleviation. His favorite memory from the internship was his first constituent tour of the Capitol building!
Meet Max Telfer:
Max Telfer is originally from Tallahassee, Florida where I went to Leon High School. Max is junior studying international studies at American University. Max is excited to be studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium this upcoming Spring with a focus on the European Union in action. In the future he plans to work at the State department in a diplomatic capacity with focus in international politics. Max’s favorite memory from the internship was writing letters and exploring the Capitol.

I am saddened to hear the news of my friend Congressman Donald McEachin
He was a champion for the environment and the minority voice. His leadership and time in office sets his legacy apart from any else.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, members of staff and constituents in Virginia during this hard time.
